OEM GFX Front Spoiler.... Really GM that much!?
Hello All,
Well the other day I took my SS out early for V-day because my GF loves to take rides in it. So while leaving the parking lot after eating I happend to pick up a huge chunk of ice... It smacked my OEM GFX lip... didnt think anything of it... went home checked it out found that it cracked the lip and pushed it in... also denting my bumper... the lip was painted OIM to match... So I brought the car to my body guy who told me that he can repair my bumper with out having to buy a new one.. but the lip would have to be ordered. Not a problem I said, how much can a plastic front lip cost? well I found out a SH*T TON.... $7XX.00.... Really GM.... please tell me how could that be... I went to school for industrial design, I understand Manufacturing and Material and there is no reason for the front lip to be that much when it is the smallest peice of the kit and simplist to make... So now with the bumper repair, Front GM lip, paint, and labor my bill is $1600... he said the price wouldnt be that high if he didnt have to order the lip... he was shocked and had to call them back to see if the priced him for the whole kit... ohh well... she is going to get fixed on tues. and not coming out of my shop till all the snow is melted... Pics to come. befor and after. Last edited by BigBlock427; 02-15-2011 at 05:44 PM. |

Painted black, has some rock chips...definitely needs a repaint regardless of what your car color is. I whore this info every chance I get hoping to get rid of it someday...oh well.
Really the biggest problem is shipping it. ~$130 wherever it goes. I can get an exact shipping price with a zip code.

I feel your pain
I hit a piece of re-tread on the highway doin about 80. It did about the same amount of damage (tore the lower lip with a small dent in the front fascia). $1700! I had the car for exactly one month.
To add insult to injury, the autobody shop screwed it up when they painted it and had to redo the entire front end. |

yea... they didnt want to order a new bumper because they know that the IOM is a tricky color. so there going to heat shrink and pop the bumper dent which is to bad because the lip covers most of it and then just get the new lip painted.
