If this new information is correct. Here is the updated numbers I got:

Camaro SS:

1st: 54 mph
2nd: 79 mph
3rd: 114 mph
4th: 163 mph
5th: 194 mph
6th: 287 mph

Camaro 1LE:

1st: 53 mph
2nd: 79 mph
3rd: 108mph
4th: 140 mph
5th: 189 mph
6th: 280 mph

If you are correct, the 1/4 times may be slower than an SS. Looks like a shift to fourth will be almost guaranteed and depending on the driver, that will cost time. Of course the improved acceleration may help cover the difference. 3rd and 4th gear is a pretty substantial difference IMO. 3rd and 4th gear in a 1LE should pull a lot harder as you are more likely to stay in the power after a shift than the SS. I really want to see performance numbers now!!!

4th is the direct drive gear so with a 3.91 over a 3.45 it's the most affected. About a 500 rpm difference.

The 2013 camaro brochure. Since it comes from GM themselves I would be skeptical. We will have to see what the car can do.

Ya.....I want to see some independent testing. It's exactly the same time as the SS which makes me think they didn't really test it and just put in the SS number as close enough.

Me to.

I'm sure it will be quicker than a standard SS....

but that is not what it is designed for.

The road course/track is where it will shine

I plan to achieve an LS7 level of power in my 1LE for a couple thousand dollar investment at most, which I believe will be a lot less $$ than it would be if GM did it.

Want your guys opinion here . I'm looking to buy a 2013 SS/RS here soon, collecting a large down payment first . When I found the 1LE it thru a loop in my plans. I really like the looks that the 1LE provides to the camaro, this would be a daily driver and wont see the track so the suspension upgrades are not important to me but they are nice. Im mainly interested in the cosmetics the package provides but I would add the RS package as well. I have wondered How the taller gearing would affect overall time and the figures posted are exactly what I was thinking could happen which I dislike, what would you guys do in this situation ?

How important are the wheels to you? For a few hundred bucks you can get the front splitter and sideskirts, and I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much to get a matte black hood wrap if it's just the looks you're after. If you want the wheels too well then you're going to spend as much as the 1LE option costs anyways so you might as well get the 1LE. It'll certainly have a better resale value if you decide to sell it compared to a stock SS.

What are you concerned with, regarding gear ratios? The rear end gears are shorter in the 1LE, not taller. However, the gearing in the 1LE transmission offsets the shorter gears. In both cars 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th gears will feel the same. Both cars will accelerate from a stop exactly the same. Third and fourth gears will feel different, with fourth being the most noticeable. Fourth gear will feel different because the 1LE will pull harder, but not have as much MPH at redline. The ratio between 4th gear and 5th gear will be greater in the 1LE. Think of it this way; A 6 speed SS will feel like it has 6 evenly spaced gears. The 1LE will feel like a close ratio 4 speed that has two extra overdrive gears for highway use.
