Sounds like you have a bum for a dealer...

If you want to try something away from them... maybe drain the gas, change fuel filter and fill up at a known station

I used the recommended gas of at least 87 octane since I have the v6 and the oil is dexos that was said to be used by the owners manual.

Not saying you didn't, but that's something they're going to be watching for I'm sure.

I have the SS my manual indicates to use Mobil # 1, but anyway use what your manual is telling you to use.
I hope it was a bad gas problem and your back cruising soon.Defiantly go to another dealer and hope to get better service.I had the same problem and switched to another dealer, I have a noise in the front end ,strut mount area they acknowledged there was a noise and said GM said it was normal which I am still fighting, but they tick me of when they told we to turn up the radio, then I wouldn't hear the noise.

Sounds like some pieces of the story are missing to me.

I've never seen a dealer say "it's shot and it's your fault, but we're not going to investigate the issue" when working a warranty claim. A warranty claim is pretty easy money. They found you didn't have oil, you didn't use the right kind of oil, or evidence that your oil hadn't been changed in a REALLY LONG time. Maybe they found evidence of a tune, a missing air filter, hydrolock, or the greybox showed it was over-revved...SOMETHING. They're not going to just refuse to repair your car because they get paid well by GM to fix warranty issues. There are TSBs about the timing chain and transmission issues.
Take it to another dealer.

I'd get your car as soon as possible, go to an auto parts store and buy some Heat or other fuel water remover, add it to the tank, and drive the car. If the only thing that changed before the problem started is a fill-up, then you have to start with the fuel. Surely, there would be some codes thrown if it was something else. The story isn't adding up. Why isn't the dealer recommending draining the tank and refueling it? Something is missing.

MsLzrdsCamaro, do you have a case number you could send to me? I'd like to see if there's anything I can do for you from our side of things. Thank you.

Exactly my thoughts. Something is missing in the story here. If it doesn't make sense, it probably isn't true.

Oh boy....So your boyfriend left with the car, went to a friend's house, and it came back like this? That's a twist, and I've heard it before. My mother had a Mustang II back in the 70s. One day, my dad took it out for a drive, and it came back with ruined engine too. I'm not jumping to any conclusions here. Hopefully the knocking really is just something like water in the gas, and will go away with a fresh tank, and never be a problem again. I'm just saying, I've heard this story before.

Does this car have a manual transmission, or an automatic?

The reason it says that is that you have a 2010. dexos or dexos equivalent is for 2011 and up. This might be why you're literally not on the same page. But Mobil 1 is approved substitute for dexos, so if you used it that would be cool as well. Last I checked, dexos is not a requirement for 2010 Camaro.
