Heritage Grille install - How tough is it? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I am going to pickup a Heritage grille for my Camaro Saturday. I was curious as to how hard of an install it is, has anybody done one themselves? I could just have the dealer install it, but they have never done one & I would like to save the cash if possible. Thanks for any info

i havnt done it yet- but ive takin off the front bumper and thas not hard and the grill looks simple

there are several threads on the install.they say it isn't too bad of an install,but i've gotten lazy in my old age,so i would have it done.i do love that grill.

Bout a 60 minute job.

Jack the front of the car up and place on two jack stands.

Remove the six plastic clips on the header/nose plate under the hood.

Remove both wheels, remove the two plastic plugs in the fender liner & the three star headed screws.

Pull the liner loose from the bottom & it will fall down some.

Look up in & there r 3-10mm bolts across the top, one behind the marker light & a sm. 6mm one underneath light.

unplug the fog lights

remove the two 10mm bolts, one on either side and giggle the nose off.

hopefully the grille comes with instructions, i have not checked mine yet.

You dont even need to remove the wheels, just turn them according to whatever side you're on. No need to remove the liner even.

I did mine last weekend. Not too bad really. I didn't even jack up the front end, just turned the wheels. A couple of the bolts were a pain, but other than that it wasn't that big a deal. Now snapping in the new grill was no fun, but my son lent me hand on that part.

a lot easier than i though it would be... 4 bolts inside each fender, 6 tabs and 4 bolts on top, and 2 bolts on bottom and the bumper slides right off.

the grille is held in place by a bunch of tabs that require a flathead or panel removal tool to pop off.

Don't forget to save the clips, because they didn't come with my grill.

It's not difficult at all. The removal and reinstallation of the front nose clip is a breeze. Be sure to have a soft clean blanket to lay the nose piece on while removing the old grille and installing the new one (minimize scratching the painted surface on the nose piece).

It is surprisingly easy. Took me about an 1 1/2 hour, but I did a few other things while working on it.
