Camaro recalls vs Challenger Recalls

For anyone complaining about the mostly minor issues on our cars that have only been in production a few months, at least our wheels aren't falling off.

Chrysler recall rear-wheel-drive cars for dangerous wheels
Monday November 2, 2009 3:48 PM By José Moreno

Chrysler has issued a recall of select 2009 and 2010 model-year rear-wheel-drive vehicles for a problem that could lead to the front wheels falling off. Apparently, some of these models left the factory without a front spindle nut—a part that keeps other parts in the wheel from coming apart

"While driving, a tire and wheel separation could occur increasing the risk of a crash," says National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) report.

Here are all the models that could potentially have been affected.

• CHRYSLER / 300 2009-2010
• DODGE / CHALLENGER 2009
• DODGE / CHARGER 2009-2010
• DODGE / CHALLENGER 2010

Chrysler started the recall last week, and owners of the affected vehicles should contact the dealership or call Chrysler at 800-835-1403 for more information.

The Challengers have been plagued by alot of QC issues. #7-cylinder misfire, headliners, and oil/catch can issues being the big ones. I read that one guy actually got an SRT wing on his RT, and another got an RT with SRT interior door trim on one side.

The Camaros are alot better, but they did have a recall over the battery wire/cable(which could shut the entire electrical system down) and they had that transmission problem as well.

They're just now discovering a wheels-falling-off problem with their 09 vehicles? That seems a little... odd.

How do they know for sure that a wheel falling off will increase the chances of a crash?

The problem is, our recalls are at the enigneer investigation stage. Plus they don't have enough parts out there to fix our problems. I've been complaining for months about our clutch. When they replace the clutch, they also have to replace the flywheel. Only 12 dealerships in the U.S. had the flywheel. One was in Naperville, Il which I pass this dealership every night for work. We could not get that flywheel it was already going somewhere else, we had to wait for one to come from N.C. It finally made it to the dealership yesterday, but the car has been on the rack, up in the air at the dealership since Tuesday. Of course the tech had to be off yesterday so now we don't have our car for probably the last nice weekend in Chicago.

On ChallengerTalk they are aware of a problem which might be even worse than the wheels falling off....

Mostly on Auto - r/t's, the car during normal driving will go into limp mode. Whats that mean? Steering and brakes cut out and you take a ride wherever your 4000lb car wants you to go. Not the end of the world backing out of your driveway.... but on the highway....

You also missed the one about the Steering wheels coming off... they have found too many Nuts loose behind the steering wheel.

that's pretty lame considering it's on the Charger platform that's been around for years.
