Car Care Products
Ok...I have got to ask this question because it's just driving me nuts. I'll probably get flamed by someone...but hope not...as this is just a genuine question.
For the 19 or so years that I've been driving, I've almost always used the Meguiar's product line...back when I was 16, I used what I could afford. But I see more and more folks talking about Zaino and some other product lines that I'm not familiar with. I'd like to learn about other folks choices in car care products, pros/cons from your experiences, etc. I've starting reading on "clay barring" but not sure why/when/how of it. Why have you chosen the car care products that you use? Specifically, by application, what product and why: Paint: washing/waxing/deep cleaning Glass: inside and out Wheels: cleaning and polish Tires: cleaning and protectant Interior: leather, cloth, carpet, dash, door panels My current responses would be: 1. Paint: Meguiar's "Gold Class" soap, paste wax every 3 mo., and quick spray wax/detailer in between 2. Glass: Windex or 50/50 of vinegar/water 3. Wheels: Pre-treat wheels, tires, wheel wells with Simple Green and then same Meguiar's soap as paint 4. Tires: Meguiar's "hot shine" spray 5. Interior: Meguiar's leather care cleaner and lotion I don't have the tools to clean the carpet at home so have to take it to local car wash once or twice a year. |

Actually Zaino has been around for a while and was/is big with f-body enthusiasts among others. I remember seeing a Zaino comparison with Meguir's and another brand on an old SLP forum years ago about the quality of shine as well as the durability of both and Zaino came out on top. They use a synthetic polymer and not a wax per say when compared to a carnuba type. A lot of companies are switching over or have at least incorporated a synthetic into their product line-up because they are much more durable and can be applied in many layers w/o detracting consequences.
Personally on a care I care about I like using it, but that has to be done 100% by you. If you attempt to take it to a detailer and they apply something else to it then you are basicallly having to start over... |

I'm just trying out Zaino for the first time, I'll post pics soon, awesome product. Prior to that I used Meguiar's or Mother's products. So now:
1. Paint: Zaino car wash, claybar, swirl remover, polish, sealant, and detail spray 2. Glass: Zaino class polish and Invisible glass cleaner 3. Wheels: Mine are painted so they get cleaned much the same as my paint. 4. Tires: Armor All original 5. Interior: Turtle wax cloth cleaner, Armor All for the plastic I was a big fan of microfiber, but now I'm getting turned onto 100% cotton towels |

If you live in love bug country I suggest Dupli-Color Shield. Its a temporary spray on for bug protection that washes off with soapy water.

For tires I use pure silicon spray makes them look brand new. Even after 50 years a thorough cleaning and bath in silicon brings old tires to a semigloss shine.

Has anyone heard of Klasse All-in one and Klasse sealant glaze? Apparently these products are base and clear coat safe. They say you can put a carnauba paste wax on afterward to give it a deeper shine.
Apparently they can be applied by hand too. All opinions welcome as I'm getting a black on black and want to keep it looking great. Thanks in advance. |

I like zaino's polishes but not their other stuff
Lately, been doing 1. Zaino swirl remover 2. Zaino polish 3. 3m cleaner wax 4. 3m performance finish then for maintainence, 1. wash with just water, 2. dry 3. spray on either Zaino or Meguiar's quick detailer, wipe clean |
