1998 ls1 low oil pressure

This had been bugging me. ill just explain whats going on. when i start up the car when its cold the pressure is a hair below 40psi. when its hot and driving around 45mph its at 35psi.. I was using castrol 5w-30 oil so then i changed it to castrol 10w-30 today and it's doing the same thing. I thought the thicker oil would help with the oil pressure. My dad keeps telling me its fine. he has a 99 trans am. But it never used to be like this.

I have a 99 TA as well, the factory guage is horrible. Mine does the same thing well kinda... start up to normal op temps a hair below 40psi cruising is a about 35 to 38 , WOT 50 to 60 ... for what I've seen this is pretty normal atleast on the factory guages
