Any Options for a Crappy Windshield?

Hey all,

Yes, I have been a ghost as of late. Had all the mods done to Christine but working in the city I hardly get to driver her. Weekends are fun though!

It's not my windshield, but my wife's 2012 Nissan Juke. Now with the sun at that horrible angle on drives home, it's hard to see out of!

I can replace it, it's not a $$ issue but was wondering if anyone had a trick or a fix for a pitted, nasty windshield fix. Be creative!

Thanks in advance.

You can polish glass with Cerium Oxide, but it makes one hell of a mess! How well it works depends on how deep the pits are. If it's to the point it affecting visibility, your best option is to replace it.

I bought some last week, debating even trying. Thanks for the input man!

If you decide to use it, cover up everything you possibly can, it slings EVERYWHERE!

I do some occasional professional glass repair.
Cerum oxide is only good for scratches too small to be able to feel with your fingernail, even tiny scuffs can be super time consuming. There are such products to supposedly pump into a crack but a bunch of pitts is impractical to fix by any method I've heard of.
Most all glass correction is so labor intensive it's mostly reserved for old hard to find glass.
Hey was worth asking, but a big no for other than replacement.

Even better idea, if you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute, don't post.

His wife might like the Nissan.

I've a buddy that restored a 1968 GTO. The glass has some deeper scratches in it. He had someone polish the scratches out, and they did a good job at that. However, by concentrating on just the scratched area it "fish bowled" the glass in spots making it a optical disaster for safety purposes.

You've made the right decision to have the windshield replaced.
