Question GM performance headers and exhaust: what kind of performance increase?

honestly wouldnt waste time or money on there shorty headers. any long tubes from kooks, arh, etc will be way better and around the same price.

Some of us live in states where ONLY CARB certified parts are allowed...

I did the whole long tube thing on my 1998, but have to change them back to stock manifolds every two year, which sucks (If you have ever changed headers on a 4th Gen in your garage, you will understand)...

The shorty's are CARB certified, but so is the new MagnaCharger 2300 (the only other thing needed is a set of forged pistons)!

I've paid $500 in fines for LTs here. As much as I hate to have done it, I just pulled my QTPs because I'm tired of worrying about another ticket. I got some nice barely used Edelbrock shorties, added a Random Technologies 2.5-inch Y-pipe, and called it done. I don't have to swap them out anymore and won't have a problem smogging. Does it sound or run like it had done? No. I'm probably leaving a good 20 RWHP on the table and the sound it so boring now, but I'm glad there are some factory engineered shorties out there for us who don't have a choice.

I'm guessing the shorties probably won't be worth much more than 10 RWHP - maybe 15 with a tune. The catback will probably be close to 5 to 10 RWHP. Bottom line, for both, and a tune, maybe about 25 to 30 RWHP. I think the CAI would definately push it that high.

GM Peformance Short Tube Headers and Exhaust

Is there an actual performance gain with the short tube hearders vs. the stock headers that the SS / the 6 speed has? As well as the Cat Back Exhaust?

Im trying to keep the car strickly all GM parts but i cant see spending the money on this stuff if there isnt a decent gain in power. I should be getting delivery on my car by the end of the month. Any knowledgewould be apreciated!

What was the difference between the two? Do you have dyno numbers?
Thanks.
