It was awe inspiring. There were 2 of them. One came from behind the wall and set up on pit road. A second was delivered to the end of pit road and driven off a Chinok helicopter compliments of the boys at Fort Hood. Both Camaro Pace Cars made the first lap or 2, each one with half the field behind it. Almost brought a tear to me eye!

My PICS are not as good but interesting none the less.

They also had a Transformers Edition on display.

Man, I would have loved to have seen that roll off that chopper....good bumps...

I saw the race today and the 'surprise' when the helicopter door opened, and lo and behold, there was that BEAUTIFUL Camaro Pace Car................

Gave me the 'chills' too...very touching...

The announcers said a NASA astronaut was a huge NASCAR fan, so they let him drive the Camaro right off that helicopter...

However, I was a bit disappointed, as the announcers mentioned NOTHING about the Camaro, they just kept talking about the 'Pace Car'...not the MOST BAD A** AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, AWESOME CAMARO PACE CAR...

It was not just a "pace car'...it was a CAMARO PACE CAR...

my Dad went as well, he was down right next to Jeff Gordon's pit when they flew it in, he said it was one of the coolest freakin things ever lol

WHAT!!! that's wicked they landed that right in the infield like that, did they televise that part? Missed the race yesterday due to car washing and tire rotating

Yes it was, like Prima Donna said the driver is a NASA pilot and also a season ticket holder at the track. It was an AWESOME site!!!

I think they are the same cars from Daytona and a couple of other races.....

Still cool to see one pace a race.
