Sudden Sandstorm + Black Camaro = One sad owner
So I was heading to Carson City, NV, and got caught in a huge sandstorm. Nowhere to go, I had to drive through it, 4 miles of near zero visibility, and tumbleweed the size of small cars. Managed to avoid most of the tumbleweed, but there was nothing to be done for the sand. Got home, washed the car hoping it was just a layer of dust and a few small pits and scratches. Nope destroyed my paint, windshield, passenger glass, headlights, running lights, both grills, and much more. I just stood there crying to myself. Decided to call my insurance, and boy am I glad I did. They approved 6 pages of repairs. New headlights, new running lights, new glass all around, new grills, and best of all, they are stripping it apart and repainting the whole car. They felt bad quoting me 3 weeks repair time, and I just told them to take as long as they need to do the job right. She is going to be so beautiful when she's done, I can hardly wait. I will post pics as soon as she is done. But for now, please allow me to share a few images of my pain.

Wow, that sucks. Hopefully your insurance will be paying for new paint.

Man that is bad. When I read the title of this I couldn't help thinking of the Rolls Royce in the movie GumBall Rally.

Insurance covers this?
If so, please PM when the next sand storm is approaching ;-)

It looks like metallic paint in the pictures lol. Definitely push for a metallic black if they will do it. That'll look sharp! Do like the stig. PBM! (Phantom black metallic)

Sorry to hear. We get it here in New England right off the back of sand trucks - why mine stays parked for the winter. Good luck on the repairs and it will look sweet again when done!

Just out of curiosity, did the insurance company cover that under collision or comprehensive?

Thanks guys. It's all covered by my insurance under comprehensive, so no dings to my insurance at least. I asked about going either flat or metallic, they wouldn't go for it. Sandstorms are fairly common, but not in the area I was at, which is why I was driving my car in the first place. But yeah, so it goes. Going to have to look into protective films, at least for the headlights, and front bumper.
