Why is dislike fellow 5th gen owners

I wasn't originally going to make this thread, but after browsing through the forums and seeing the daily "I'm crying cuz someone parked next to me" and "where do I put change in my camaro?" and "how do I tie my shoes?" I had to let if fly.

I have grown to really dislike 5th gen camaro owners. Sorry if this hurts people's feelings, but I'm gonna get this out.

In addition to the mostly pointless nonsense on the forums, my local car show has also left me annoyed. I have been going to this show for 10+ years. Since I got my 5th gen, I have continued to park with some of buddies I have made over the years, ranging from a 4th gen LT1 to an old Nova to a straight up army Jeep. We walk around the show and check out all the cars, chat, share stories, and hang out.

Then we have the 5th gen crew. They constantly wave me over to park near them when I roll in, but I snub them every time.

They gather at the show, created their own section away from everyone else. They take up more parking spaces than necessary (surprise surprise) and try to prevent others from parking in "their area". They have their own lame "5th gen" tshirts, and congregate in a little huddle like a high school clique. They don't make an effort to walk around the show or talk to others. A few of them need to start their cars and rev their awful, raspy sounding home brew exhaust. Not even the pro-street Chevelles do this. The king of their group actually has a cold air intake that he installed himself! Whoa! The appearance master of the group has a camaro that has every possible appendage and body piece converted to chrome. The car blinds people when it is sunny out. All the while, they look down and act smug towards the car show visitors that don't have muscle cars that just came to enjoy the night. As the show concludes, they incessantly rev and peel out of the parking lot, leaving on an even more obnoxious note.

Not sure what it is about this car, but this crowd is very disappointing. The 5th gen camaro is just another muscle car. It is not "better" than anything else out there, it's just another platform. Being one of the tens of thouasans of people that owns one does not put you in some sort of exclusive club. It is still just a car. Get over yourselves.

I think you'll find that there's quite a few in every crowd. But I have never seen a community on a forum quite like this one, go to any other and the nonsense there just blows my mind. But whatever floats your boat, if you're going to leave because of the actions of a select few then so be it, the more hardcore enthusiasts are here to stay.

That brings up a good point. As much as I dislike any ridiculous rims on a Camaro there people out there who do and put them on. Some people like convertibles, some like just cruising, some like driving like jerks.

Just worry about your car, and talk trash about the ones that arent!

OP, your post reminds me of some of the corvette owners at car clubs. They don't mingle and they have clearly forgotten that their 1st , 2 nd or even 3rd muscle car was NOT a Corvette. I guess once they graduated to a corvette everybody else and their car is crap

I agree, i also don't like how if you even mention you took off from a light with another car, everyone pretty much tells you that you are a horrible person and your lucky to be alive!!

Yea I agree with you on that. I have seen some bad vette crowds. They seem to be ok when they are on their own, but when they get in groups they act similar.

Well, sorry you feel that way. If other peoples actions are going to make you sell your car then so be it.

I do agree that some of the stuff people post here is pretty ridiculous, but I do take care to park (in a single spot) a little further away to prevent dings...but nothing out of the ordinary (i.e a half mile away).

Sometimes peoples idea of fun is much different than others and you just gotta let them do what they think is cool at shows and gatherings.

Not all Camaro owners are like that and sorry they (and others) have put a bad taste in your mouth.

i just ordered my 13 and i can't wait to show it off, in that respect where i live usually saturday nights are the "cruise and park" nights and this is the first car i will actually be proud to have for those nights! But, i know what you mean when it comes to the few that hurt the rep of others, everyone that gathers seems to be their own little clique and you have several that huddle and won't mingle, my buddies like to go and check out the cars but when we try to talk to them we get snubbed cause we don't drive a honda or acura, not to stereotype but asians are the majority on these nights with their grinders, so it kinda sucks

Wheelman, I'd just chill about it all...It don't mean nothin'!...Its all harmless and not worth stressing out over...What's not a big deal to some may be worthwhile to others, even though its basically the same thing over and over...Just let it go, brother!...Live and let live!...(its not that hard to do!)
