Back in 1969 when they were not too scarce, there was no a/c, no power steering, no automatic transmission, they had a rock crusher transmission, 4.11 gears and posi and a little bitch of a 302 motor that could scream with a Holley carb, aluminum intake and 2.02/1.60 heads with 11 to 1 compression. There was nothing else like it. You can't duplicate that today, it's like a sequel to a great movie that does not cut it. I still remember the feeling I had when I saw my first one. You old guys know what I am talking about.
Nice car ! I had a 69 SS new and seen a couple Z28 s around but, never raced one, mine was olympic gold black hockey stripes 350/300 hp it went great caught rubber in all 4 gears but, their was a badass 396 around so I wasn't that badass. Never knew about the Yenko's or I would have bought one of those. I miss the SS though.

The Z/28 has an Iconic ring and name to it, even though some of the mid/later year Z-28s where pretty lame performers.
I owned a Trailblazer SS and it was quite capable. I surprised many a driver in that vehicle. While I agree the SS badge was watered down when Chevy started sticking it on anything with bigger wheels and ten more horsepower than stock, some of the applications were appropriate.

Is it possible the 5th gen gets the Zl1 and
the 6th gen gets the Z28?

Imagine.... "IF" they actually announced a Gen 5 Z/28 with an LS7 at the $45-$48 price point. Talk about filling the gap (as has been discussed toooo much already). I've been thinking... GM is keeping/controlling the supply of the ZL1's using the "just in time" principles. I really believe that, although demand is not quite being met for the ZL1, real demand numbers are elusive and they may be closer than we think to real availability. The Z/28 would triple/quadruple volume of the ZL1 (based on price/upfit potential). And surely erode the Mustang demand even more. Could all be part of a "big plan". I'm not so sure I wouldn't want one in lieu of my ZL1. I love the ZL1, but I could love a Z/28 too! Just not sure I could handle the threesome, if you know what I mean.

I was one to believe they would wait for Gen 6 to pull the trigger, but I'm not so sure they can wait that long. And, the 2016 CAFE rules are looming -

Some days I believe 1LE - Fall 2012, C7 Corvette - Spring 2013, Z/28 - Late 2013. But then there are days that I believe the Gen6 will start out with a few models like the Gen5. It's going to be hard for the Gen6 to live up to the Gen5, but offering a Z/28 right off the bat would be a marketing plus especially with a Z/28 specific engine.

Anyway you look at it, the game is to constantly want the next model up on the Camaro. I played that game in '76-'78; base, LT, Z/28. This time I'm going from 2LT to Z/28. It's comforting to know GM will not let me down whatever the next Z/28 is !!!!!

If we would do see a Gen5 Z/28, it'll have the C7 Corvette engine.

The day they stick an LS7 in a Camaro is the day I get rid of my GT for one. Putting an LS7 into a 5th Gen would push the price up to the ZL1 level.

-rear seat delete
-stereo delete
-removed sound deadening material from trunk, reduced amount in passenger compartment

OK I love the Idea of the Z/28...
but I already have a 2LT and will likely not be able to buy the Z/28 if they ever built it...
I thought about just slapping on some Z/28 badges just for the look, but someone on a thread said I would be a poser...
So I decided to have Emblempros make this for me:

They were supposed to be for the grill and trunk lid but they came in too big.
Trying to get smaller ones, but if not I will likely mount under the CAMARO on the fender??
