Addicted to F/I...

Since day one, I have had my eye on going F/I...and lately searching has became serious. The bad thing is, Im not much of a "gearhead" and am not too familiar with all that is necessary. You can see all of my mods in my signature. A RX SC has came into the picture and I was just wondering what is needed other than the actual kit? The car is a daily driver and I dont look to upgrade or change cars anytime soon. Would this be a good idea in the long run? Or would it be costly with possible repairs and things like that? Im not looking to be the fastest on the street, I just want to be unique. All the info I can get will be more than welcome! I know we have a large crowd that knows all about this! Feel free to chime in with whatever comments you would like as long as its needed lol

Most important thing would be who's doing the install. If you have someone who can do it and do it right, your car should be okay.

I have plenty of options for the install. And I have heard its pretty simple. I have the trifecta tune...I am guessing install and the upgraded tune would be all that I would need to pay for after I actually get the kit, right? That is absolutely needed.

The S/C units are long term survivors. The do require a bit of maintenance (oil change @ 5K miles on the IPF unit, should be same for the RX centrifi), but other than that, they don't really intrude much on day to day driving. You get used to the "whossh" and other sounds.

Don't know about the upcoming Roots-style (top of engine mount).

Turbo(s) may need a bit of run time to cool them down before engine shut-off, but in daily driving it would only be a concern if you were pushing it. This drawback may have been overcome, not sure.

The system isnt brand new...but pretty close to it. Little over a thousand miles on it. But I get free oil changes for life every certain amount of miles at the dealership I bought it from. So that shouldnt be too bad of a concern lol

RX system appears to need to have the main pulley swapped for their alternative with a second set of grooves to drive a second belt to the S/C. The IPF kit uses a longer belt and a couple of idler pulleys to guide it, but retains the stock pulleys otherwise. That's as much as I can tell of the pictures of the RX unit, anyway, haven't seen one in person. Other than that, and the catch can details, most of the rest is comparable.

I'm not too sure. I haven't really directly asked but they are professionals. Trust me I wouldn't get just anybody to install this lol and I'm not too sure what you're saying there. Everything I've been seeing lately it isn't that difficult for somebody that knows what they are doing? Might be wrong. Which is why I ask things for you all to answer haha

I won't be difficult for professionals but they'll probably take a little longer if they run into a problem. The RX system also has a change in the fans I believe. Don't remember the exact details.

Does it matter if the kit is for the LFX? It just occurred to me that it is for the new motor...
