mail slot cai

Has anyone else thought of using the mail slot on your SS as part of a cai system? While waiting for my flight I was thinking that this would be a great way to get cold air directly into the throttle body. My current location (Iraq) doesn't afford me much oppurtunity to evaluate and possibly do this to mine. Let me know your thoughts

Unfortunately the slot isn't in a place that makes it useful for anything other than Knight Rider lights

There may not be enough wind coming through a hollowed out slot. It would certainly be less than the Camaro's current flow source.

Yes. Everyone one this forum has thought about this. Turns out it won't work. Two major reasons are; There are structural materials directly behind the slot, such as the hood latch. And even if everything structural was moved out of the way, the slot is way too small to feed a 6.2L engine.

It took me two months to get past this... LOL !!!

Its not so much that its too small for a CAI, its roughly equal in area to about a 4.5-5.0" diameter tube. The problem is that a thin slot is absolutely horrible for flow. Well, that and the hood latch is in the way. That's even worse for flow.
