It's not gonna be 300 - 500 lbs lighter, impossible! Why a 5.3? It makes no sense. It will weigh the same and have less HP.
We need to be reasonable. Compare previous Z28's to the other Camaros of the same model year. Very simply put it should be a Camaro version of the Boss, but of course it will be better! Give us the Z28! |

The real Z/28 wouldn't have GFX. Just another thing to add weight that offers no performance gain at all. To be a boss killer need theyt to get rid of stuff ,not add things for ornamental effect.

500 lbs lighter impossible, no. Improbable, yes. Could dump 500 lbs quick, but it would cost. Like Number3 reminded us... the original Z/28 (street version) wasn't a stripped down race car. You could get it loaded with just about any option offered other than powertrain. If you want an SSX, get a BIW, find a salvage car and go to work. I'd like to see the Leno car produced.... I'd drive that happy little 450 hp 6-banger!

I agree you could option it to be almost as much as a base vette. I can't be any more clear; make it a Boss competitor. It should not be a "race car" it should be a street driven "race car". Two very different things. |

Ditto, I've been waiting for a Z/28 ever since the Camaro Concept was first show at the Detroit Auto Show in 2006!! My avatar picture was done by Dragoneye on this site long before the ZL1 was even a thought in anyone's mind, around Nov. 2007 with Z/28 emblems on it.

Nope..why would I want to downgrade....
Already built a supersnake killer. And working on the roadcourse Boss Killer. But it will take some big brakes "Stop Tech" and a full pfadt kit. No big deal and then the Z28 will still seem mild compared.

That's not the point. The question is "do you want a Boss killer?" Well that's not going to happen by adding weight to the car. Besides, 69 camaros didn't have GFX unless you count chrome rocker molding as GFX. LOL

For those of you that want a Z28, I hope that GM builds the car that you want. A lighter, more stripped down model. For me, GM built built me the exact car that I hoped/wanted them to build in the ZL1. The fact that it might be a bit heavier does not bother me a bit. A 550+HP S/C engine, Magnetic Shocks, HD Suspension, Forged Wheels with huge tires, 6 Piston Brembo brakes with large rotors, Suede Interior, Heads Up Display, Dual Mode Exhaust and Carbon Fiber Hood insert. There is nothing that I want to change, for me, the car is perfect. I hope they do the same for you and build the Z28 that you want.

http://www.camaro-untoldsecrets.com/...article_fs.htm with further info on them. Statements that GFX should not be on a new Z/28 can be very misleading if the GFX weigh little and make a big difference in handling at highway speeds and above. Clyde |

Even the current GFX pieces I have on mine are very light and make the vehicle a lot more aerodynamics and looks lowered.
