Try your luck with the parking lot, you have nothing to lose. Definately get a police report because you're looking at an expensive repair. I would then call me insurance company, pay your deductable and hope for the best. You did the right thing parking in what should have been a safe lot and you weren't even in the car when it happened. What's the insurance company going to say?

+1

having a police report will probably make things much easier should you catch the person who did it.

You're right - tomorrow I'm going to go over to the lot and file a complaint. I'm going to be stuck with the bill, but I don't want the lot or the person who committed the act to get away with nothing without at least doing this. Then I'll call insurance and pay the deductible. I've gone through all of the emotions throughout the day and realize that I have nothing left to do but fix it and be even more careful. People will go out of their way to be evil....

We should have laws like they do overseas where if you commit a crime they just chop off a hand or arm along with public executions. I bet crime would drop like a stone.

If you have to pay to park yes they should pay for the damages.... It's their responsibility to protect people's cars or have some sort of surveillance

I don't know about your insurance, but mine with State Farm waives the deductible for comprehensive claims (i.e. damage like this)
