Yeah, you definately need an amp. A 10 or a 12 (personal preferance) will really fill out the sound of the stock stereo. Check out ********'s packages for the 5th gen Camaro. They have some nice easy to install packages.

I originally thought about a 10" but I upgraded at the last minute to the 12" and the extra $25 was well spent...IMO 10" is tight and a really good sound but the 12" has the ability to hit a little bit lower. ********'s 2010 kit is the way to go, whole kit makes the install easy

bigger the better..imo..15s if you can fit 'em. Pair of 12s or 3 10s would rock..

example: 3 JLw6 powered by a 1000w rms amplifier is a good start.

Amp wiring is not really hard at all. The Camaro with the battery and the factory amp in the trunk makes it pretty easy. ******** will provide easy to follow instructions if you decide to go that route.

Luckily I had stereo gear sitting around and tested a 12 and a 10 in a sealed box before deciding what size ******** enclosure I wanted. I ended up going with the 12", but the 10" sounded darn good too. IMO the 10" had a bit better response and I liked the tighter bass, but ended up going with the 12" for the low end.

i recommend Kicker they have some great speakers, as far as a box build one yourself. Their not hard to do and you will get a better seal if you use some reson inside the box.
