Actually I had 1,600 miles on it, when I put 700+ to the wheels. I was never worried about the warranty. Book states "reccomended" break in. Not Mandatory.

It's 1500 miles. They don't want you to go over 4000 RPM's, don't go over 80 MPH and the third thing is don't keep a constant speed like setting the cruise at 60 for an extended period of time. I'm pretty sure those are the only restrictions. After that have a blast. Welcome to camaro5, you will learn alot hear about the car. Most dealers are clueless about the car compared to this site.

I'd recomend a head gasket with a wire in it. Get the block machined for one if possible. That is the proper way to seal an engine with high boost.

History only shows flash count from the PCM....not how it has driven. The box under the drivers seat records previouse 60 sec before air bag deployment.

Watch the GM ZL1 videos. It explains most of it. The manual is sketchy at best.

I like to get the rings to form the best leading edge that I can get on a fresh motor. I do this by letting it heat cycle 2 times with a few blips to the intended max rpm then after complete cool down ,restart and warm up and do 3-5 pulls all the way through the rpm range then I take it easy for 500 miles ...

Well the GM recomended break in is do not rev over 4k and vary speed for like 1500 miles. they will not explain the logic behind any of that.

It is not the engine, tranny, clutch, ring & pinion etc they all have there own individual break in periods.

some will tell you follow the manual my .02 is use common sense. take a 250 mile drive through varings terain and loads and you are most liklely covered. 500miles if you paranoid. after that my personal opinion is the extra milage is all fluff. until 2008 that was the break in period. then in 2009 they magically added 1000 miles of break in period and don't explain why and if you ask they basically say were smart your stupid don't ask.

I took a couple trips was easy and varied load for about 500 miles. 500-800 I was agressive but never abusive. after 800 I just drove the car.

What are your intended uses for the car? A street machine with normal driving and wanting the motor to last 20 years or a racing with max performance with who cares about maintenance or overall reliability as max speed on the track is priority one?

Some people have even speculated that the long break-in period is so much to break-in the engine, drivetrain or anything else mechanical in the car, it's more for the driver to get used to the car slow and easy before he unleashes the power this thing has had get themselves in deep crap all of a sudden.

No need to be sorry, Camaro Camero, they know what you are talking about. If they did not, they would of not complained about the spelling.
