This! There are lots of supercharged M6 SSes with weaker axles running 600+ WHP not breaking axles. If you go for Launch control or any really hard launches with a stock suspension and those rock hard sidewall Goodyears you are rolling the dice. Those Goodyears are great track tires they are worse than the Pirellis at launching the car.

While it is counter intuitive, adding DRs and a little suspension work is kinder to the axles than launching a stock 1LE hard.

I popped mine last Thursday at drag strip but I cut 1.45 60ft so I ain't to mad lol. Strange S60 is what I'm going back with I talked with Mark Carlyle he said just get the pro gears and that's a good setup. I don't know what op rwtq numbers are but I have 670 I rolled the dice for 3 weeks and she finally let go.

You're all making me very nervous. Then again.. I had a 5th gen Trans Am with 65k miles and that rear end never broke, and I was hard on it! Could just be luck of the draw that some of yours are breaking and some haven't.

Axles and Differentials are the weak link on these heavy azz tanks we got. In my case I was putting my rear end in a bad place with dragradials and Nitrous setup. Normal street driving Rearend should hold up

I hope it works out well for the Op , lets hope the dealer isn't reading this ...........
I wasn't racing, but I did launch it hard. Regardless, if they can build a differential that can handle 900lb-ft torque on a truck, they should be able to build a muscle car with a differential that can handle it's own.

In the old days ,the dealer would call it customer abuse and not honor the warrantee claim . I think the OP got off lucky on this .

Few things, can't prove that I abused it. Doesn't matter either way, it shouldn't break so easily. I have close friends at all 3 local dealers that are willing to overlook certain things.

Also! Update on rear diff. I wasn't expecting this, turns out it was the "posi-trac" that blew apart. According to the dealership the ring and pinion are undamaged. That to me is totally unexpected. Thoughts, input?

I'm interested in seeing how it broke, I want to take a look at it in person before they send the part back.

Big time unexpected!

Unless someone can chime in here, try and find out if launching with traction control button pressed for over 7 seconds, or even competition mode active, would have prevented this.

I'm assuming you were launching with default settings??

I turn all the aids off. Just 2,000rpm and lift off clutch gradually, almost as soon as the clutch grabbed though it snapped.
