Agree about the traffic. Mine is a weekend car, but if i had to drive it in town everyday I know i'd want the auto. I don't particularly like the camaro's clutch. We have a couple chevy grain trucks with small blocks and 5 speeds, and they're easier to drive through stoplights than the camaro.

Don't really get all the complaints about traffic in a manual car

I drive in Houston traffic every day, including horrid 290 west and I never even think about it. Didn't grow up here either

Sure, waiting is annoying.... But. This manual is eeeeeessssaaayy to drive

Made me think of a quote

You're downshifting too late. Basically what you are doing is this: lets say you are driving in 3rd gear at 48 mph, ur 2nd gear max mph may only be 45 mph, so when you downshift from 3rd to 2nd then your rpms are gonna go to redline almost since you are almost maxed out in 2nd gear already when u downshifted. You need to know what your mph max is in each gear so that you will know whether to downshift or upshift. Hope this helps!!!

Congratulations on graduating! Hope it's an amazing day for you filled with great memories! Don't forget pix in your robe with your Camaro!

Regarding the transmission, I've always driven stick and love it. Hubby never learned and wants me to get an auto so he can drive it on occasion. The auto feels pretty responsive to me. Not sure how I'd feel about the tap shift, but it's nice to have the option.

You have an amazing car, especially for your age. Hope you enjoy it!

Can't go wrong with either.

Is this still prob with the 2012's as well?
I've only had it grind once and I've done a good many hard 1-2 shifts.

It hasn't done it under hard shifts, it did it under normal 1-2 shift at 15-20 mph.

not normal, might want to have it checked. sounds like a synchronizer might be bad.

as to the original topic, never been a fan of auto's, but it's really just personal preference. I actually settled for a base camaro just so I could get one. everything else the dealer had in a higher trim also came with an AT. never really understood why that was considered and upgrade

I test drove a M6 SS, but didn't like the feel of the clutch or the reach of the shifter.
So, I figured if I was going to pay 40 grand for a car, it damn well better shift itself, dadgummit!
Besides, I can use tap shift if I choose. If it's good enough for a Ferrari, it's good enough
for me.

Definitely wish I'd have gotten a manual instead of an automatic. Waste of $1k.

My car was delivered from another dealer 200mi away to get a stick with the options I wanted. I simply refused an auto in this vehicle.
Once they got it the deal was sealed.
Since then I have no regrets:flag1::flag1:

I'm lazy and bought an automatic. Pretty happy with it. I know how to drive stick but I've only owned a manual trans car briefly before (about two months). When I was shopping between two dealers they only had ONE manual trans V6 in a combined stock of around 40 Camaros.
