Robbie has my car right now putting on the Dale Jr spoiler plus some new LED mirrors. He also painted my brake calipers. Supposed to get it back Wednesday.

Drywall is being installed tomorrow, insulation went in Friday along with th electrical inspection so we are moving right along. Then will only have a few things left and it will be operational, LOL.

Update on the garage progress. Drywall is installed and finishing is going on. The recent storms in the area slowed progress down a little but everything is on track.

Power will not be installed for awhile, waiting on the power company. They have more pressing issues right now trying to get power to those still without power in our area and I am fine with that. Right now they are working 16 hours on 5 hours off and 16 hours on. They are predicting a couple of weeks so that will be fine.

Garage doors have arrived and waiting for the drywall to be finished. Drywall is scheduled to be finished by Friday so all is well.

Just a side note for those looking at this thread, Please keep those in the state of Alabama and throughout the Southeast affected by the recent Storms in your thoughts and prayers, pictures really do not do justice to the destruction that has been done and the heartache caused. AND Pray for our WONDERFUL Military and the great job they did this past week, lest we NEVER FORGET 911.

Ok here are some pictures of the drywall installed and the finishing going on. This is the first coat of mud on the joints. The ceiling will be finished with a Brocade finish and will be painted semi-gloss.

John, that's really looking good. 12' walls are nice. There's a lot of room in there. Just curious, why did they double up the outlet boxes on the ceiling? I'm assuming it's for the garage openers, but why 2 next to each other then another set of 2?

Norm,

the double boxes in the ceiling you are referring to you are correct they are for the garage door openers. 2 boxes are needed 1 for the electrical power to operate the opener and the other box is used for the Cat 5 ( small voltage wire) that is used for the sensors on the garage doors that keep them from closing on cars or children.

I forget what year but they became mandatory on all gargae doors when a child got trapped by the garage door and was injured. I choose to run the wires inside the wall inside of a box to make it neater instead of running the wires across the ceiling. I wire all my houses like this as it is require by local code on anything with an electric garage door opener.

Ah okay. I closed my carport in and built the garage. I just ran those wires along the ceiling.

Garage is looking great! If the Texas guys throw a party in the garage, they have to bring some Angus beef with them!
