Excessive tire wear

Has anyone noticed any excessive tire wear on the inside of the front tires? My camaro has approx. 6000 miles and both front tires seem to wearing faster than expected. Trying to figure out if it is the tire compound, too much negative camber in the factory set up, or a genuine problem.

I have noticed excessive wear on all my tires. Only 3000 miles on car and it seems like almost half the tread is gone(20 inch P-Zeros). Have never done a rightous burn out yet and was baffled. Now I have the habit of taking the twisttys pretty fast. Live close to lots of canyons and heck its just plain fun. One of the things I bought this car for.

I believe in my case that the rubber compound that makes my car stick so well in the corners also wears very fast. My tires are wearing even thou.

I'm up in the central sierras and have 60 miles of twists and turns each day. Sticks like glue and makes the ride way too much fun!!!! Just hoping it is the P-Zeros. They are wearing evenly though. Nice to hear that someone else noticed.

Factory alignments are iffy at best. Get a 4 wheel alignment.

Get your alignment checked under warranty. You can only do it up to 7500 miles for that, so get it in right away or you'll have to pay to have it checked.

Always get your car aligned at delivery. I am a alignment tech for heavy trucks and I have aligned literally hundreds of trucks old and new. I can count with only one hand the number of times I have seen a new truck come off the line with a good alignment. They are out pretty much all of the time. You will not feel anything wrong because the vehicle is too new and the tires are in perfect condition. There are actual specs for the alignment of any vehicle and the factory will make the adjustments to get the alignment within "tolerance". Tolerance is the allowable deviation away from the actual spec. During the manufacturing at the alignment station the wheels are adjusted until the results are in the green, thats it! They have no other way of knowing what exactly the results are. Many shops and alignment specialists actually have tighter tolerances than the factory. With the trucks the factory allowable tolerance is actually very sloppy and will cause problems if left at the extreme end of the tolerance range. Plus putting an actual alignment sensor head on the tire is 100 times more accurate than the optical system the factory uses. With independent rear suspension you also have rear toe and camber. Chances are you will have to pay for the alignment, but it is money well spent, plus they aren't that expensive anyway.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm going to start with an alignment tech I trust and if we still see problems head to the dealer.

So should we just get it aligned anyways, even though we don't see anything wrong?

I have 6,000 miles on mine and have noticed no significant wear.
I actually can't wait for my Pierelli summer tires to wear out, so i can put on a decent set of all season radials.

Chances are there will be out. Since cars in general put on very few miles a years most of the time you will not see any wear starting. Also cars really aren't heavy enough like trucks are to really load a tire. For something like a Camaro I would recommend getting it aligned at delivery, and unless you race, or really torque the suspension, once every couple of years would be great. Alignments are less than $100, go for it!

can the dealer do a good job like with laser etc or what other place is recommended? i don't want to take it to firestone or discount tire- they always mess something up or get something greasy

They can, just pay for a 4 wheel alignment. Warranty is going to get you a rush job. (set the toe and go)

I like my local Midas shop. That is true with the warranty! They will rush. The dealer would have the proper specs, I not sure how quickly other shops would get that info.
