3D Renderings and such...

Actual release date?
I'm sure there's been lots of speculation, but does anyone have good info on when the new Camaro will actually be hitting dealerships? If GM has any sense, they'll get it out in time for companies to do a little bit of R&D on aftermarket parts before this year's SEMA Show. Ford nearly missed out last year as the Mustang didn't arrive until October, but they still managed to have a presence. I'd really like to see GM jump on this opportunity, but unveiling the car in mid-May tells me that it'll be a long shot.

GM has said late fall, so it could be as late as end of December.

Says this fall on the website. One article floating around said there would be a good showing of Gen 6 at SEMA too.

I wonder why the 2.0T isn't available until 2016. It's the only engine that's presently produced and used in the the assembly plant.

There's also a CY (calendar year) and a FY (fiscal year.) Calendar year is Jan-Dec. Fiscal year is whatever a company decides upon. GM decided to use a FY based on a CY, so GM's Q3 = July - Sept. |

Anyways, my guess is that its related to the limited capacity early on in the build cycle. If GM can only crank out ~100 cars per day early on, they'd probably want each of them to be as high-value as possible in order to maximize profit. But it could be something else entirely, like a very low anticipated demand at launch for the base model.

my money would be on production starting towards the end of september/early october Quote:
the unfortunate side with the I4T is that its going to most likely lose money for every one sold which could be another reason as to why its being held off at the start. the people that want their cars first (and can freely spend the money to guarantee that) will get theirs first.

People not wanting to pay MSRP and rather pay Wholesale if they can. The mooks with more money than brains will pay markup or full price on a V8 or V6 car along with the Rental agencies.
Thus.. more money made on the mindless mook. Those that want to buy/build their car as a V8 or 2.0T will want to haggle down (much like myself) so I don't mind waiting till January or February to get my car. I'll just buy a cheap S10 and drive that, clean up my SS, and trade it in if the coinage allows. Not paying over MSRP but also not just buying the car; I plan to at least buy a second set of wheels (A/S road tires on one, track tires on the other set) and paint the graphics on the car at order time. |
