Road and Track had the best measured 0-60 on a stock LS3 of all the mags:
"With 426 bhp and a 3860-lb. curb weight, the car hits 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 13.0 at 111.1 mph. Those numbers basically equal the Dodge Challenger SRT8 we previously tested with an automatic transmission, while they're significantly quicker than Ford's less powerful Mustang GT. Of note, the last Camaro Z28 we tested, in our November 2001 issue, hit 60 mph in 5.5 sec. and ran the quarter mile in 13.9, powered by a 310-bhp 5.7-liter V-8." http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/im...olet-camaro-ss .

There is a whole thread on this....
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32753 Mostly it's posting of times but some insights into launch, etc. There are also some posts about how to time, stopwatch isn't a very good way. I have a K.A.T. Matrix accelerometer. It measures 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. Check ebay for them. I paid like $25 plus shipping, maybe $40 total. I'm consistently around 4.5 seconds with a completely stock car. It takes some practice and a little mishap and you're easily into the 5 second range.... I saw a little piece the other day about how motorweek tests cars and they do a bunch of runs for 0-60, slalom, 60-0, etc. I don't recall but I think they take the best of the runs...mags likely do something similar.

"consistently around 4.5 seconds"
Does that mean you got better than 4.5 seconds? Auto or stick?

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they all base it off of a rolling start? In which case it makes a big difference for the track.

If anybody cares, I've managed 0-60 in 4.7 secs several times in a 2009 Challenger RT with a Diablo tune, CAI and Corsa catbacks, during various times of the day, temps, etc.. I definitely need to work on my launches, too much wheel spin. This is also with the traction control on as the wheels spin way too much without it. Like I said, I need to practice. I also noticed a huge improvement after I got 1500 or so miles on my car. Gotta break'em in. I've got 18,000 on it now. Anyway, I would think a Camaro SS should be able to achieve this once it's broken in.

Its 60* F Outside, did a couple of 0-60 mph run on my 2011 Chevy Camaro 1SS/RS L99 and timed using KAT Matrix Accelerometer. I got 4.76 Seconds(best time) and 4.99 Seconds.

0-60 time
Quote:
One clue might be when I hooked up a ScanTool 425801 OBDLink and monitored the engine parameters during full acceleration, the accelerator position showed only 87%, throttle position 84%, and load never went above 94% to over 100 mph even with the pedal to the floor board. What's up with that? Maybe the factory de-tuned the ECU after numerous warranty claims for broken drive shafts, rear ends, and transmissions started showing up early on according to blogs on other websites. |
