Carbon fiber hood unpainted?

I'm looking to buy sinister ram air hood. I have a black camaro so I thought I should go with the carbon fiber one for 200 dollars more and leave it unpainted on the car instead of paying that money to paint the fiberglass one.

How do you guys & gals think it will look? Carbon fiber hood on a black camaro?

I cant seem to find any pics.

As long as it's a nice weave, and a good quality mold made for unpainted display, I think it will look great. I would probably still get it shot with a good clear to protect the resin from fading though.

DEINITELY get that hood or ANY carbon fiber hood clearcoated if you leave it all carbon fiber. That will just increase it's durability and protect against the sun, and other factors in the environment. You'll be glad you did, as it will still look good after a long time.

carbon fiber has a green/grayish hue to it as long as you are ok with it then go for it, but definitely use a high quality clear on it. the uv will damage it

About the same actually. Some fiberglass weigh more than stock.

Take a look at ELManny's build thread. He's got a carbon fiber hood that he left clearcoated only and it looks REALLY good. I did what efpardo did and left some of it exposed and painted the rest of the hood. I have a true carbon fiber stripe on a dark blue and it just looks amazing. =)

I personally think it looks better to paint CF hoods and leave a section unpainted like stripes for instance. If you do go with unpainted make sure you get it cleared or the CF will become yellowish and damaged from the sun.

Personally not a fan of carbon fibre unpainted. I'm sure there are some practical reasons for using the material, but I prefer painted.
