Paint Chips In Front Of Rear Wheels

I have 2013 1LE and I'm having a bad problem with paint chips in front of the rear wheels. It's so bad I'm now thinking about having to paint these areas. Since I have stock wheels/tires I assume I may not be alone with this issue. Anyone else out there have this problem and if so, any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks

I just ordered in bulk some Expel Ultimate paint film to apply to my rocker area and gill area. Was less than $300 and I ordered probably more than I need.

I've had decent luck with rock guards behind the front wheels, might get more xpel film over the gills where you're talking about and the rockers. I'm so glad I had film put over the bumper when I first got mine.

If you've already got damage, some folks on the forum have had good luck with dr.colorchip. You could consider that or the pricier route of repainting. Either way, put some film on after the chips are fixed.

Yep, that area sticks out quite a bit & the goodyears love to sling rocks. I would recommend making some splash guards up front & having the gill area covered with a clear bra. I have an installer install expel ultimate & I really like it. You can't even tell it's on there unless you are looking for it.

Thanks for the feedback and recommendations. I was thinking about dr.color chip and the clear bra or film. I'll try dr color chip before I go to the paint shop. If that looks good, I'll put the film on. I went for a drive in the North Georgia mountains today (it was a beautiful day in Georgia and I just had a new dyno tune on Friday) and when I got back home the gill area was beat up pretty bad.

I installed the stealth rock guards and they almost eliminated new rock chips.

Does anyone know if the unpainted RPI Designs stealth splash guards are black?

Yes the stealth splash guards are black and work awesome for the problem of rock chips near the gills area. I put them on my '10 Camaro shortly after buying it new, put about 20k on it, some on dirt/gravel roads and had very few if any rock chips. I liked them so much that I took them off the 2010 before trade in and put them on my '13 1le, and like the name implies they are very inconspicuous.

Thanks! I think with all the black accents on the 1LE I'm going to stick with unpainted vs. color matching.

After looking at multiple guards online I'm not sure I like the look of most of them. I have no plans of driving my 1LE on gravel/dirt roads, do I really need the guards? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

When warm the stock tires pick up every little rock and pebble on the road and throw them down the car. If you have ever driven with race tires or drag radials it is very similar. Gravel and dirt roads would be worse.....but it happens on all surfaces.
