JorgeSS, if you decide to go Border Patrol, you will have a great time. That is if you enjoy working outdoors and running around! I will NEVER trade my time in the BP! That had to be one of the best jobs I ever had with some of the best people! And the experience is above all the other Federal Agencies in my opinion. Other Agencies look up to Border Patrol Agents, or at least the old school ones. Some of the training has gone downhill since I joined in 99. For sure though, if you DON'T want a desk job and you want something exciting to do, go Border Patrol. I do recommend, however, get your degree. If you have any questions, feel free to post here or PM me.

Besides being stuck in the office all day staring at A-Files and a computer screen, it is ok. Lumpkin itself is in the middle of nowhere, but I live in Columbus. It means about a 45 to 50 minute drive to work. At least that is what it was in the truck. But in the Camaro... I am originally from Atlanta, so I am only 2 hours from home! A lot of people don't like it here, but I have had worse jobs. The office is actually in the middle of the detention center so there are small problems, but nothing serious. Are you DRO up there?

Nogadishu huh? We had a few guys head over there, some good and several bad... Big Daddy Al still PAIC? And if you run into Crusty the Crounce tell him O-124 called him a MOPE!!! You may want to look into doing a lateral transfer as an IEA or DO. That is the route I took last year. Came here as an 9-10 IEA, got my 12-2 DO within 8 weeks. Granted that is not typical, just right place at the right time. I figure I will do a few years here and then go SA in Atlanta area.

I see this is an old post and I would appreciate if someone could give me some info. I will get my bachelor's in criminal justice (police administration) this summer and I would like to apply to any law enforcement agency that I can. However my credit isn't that great as I have a few credit cards that I wasn't able to pay because I didn't have a job at ther time. I also just got laid off from work in April. However I do know that your credit history is checked when you apply to any department. I don't have a criminal record or have never been arrested and I have a good driving record. Is it going to be extremely difficult to get hired some where? Thank you very much for any info you guys can provide.
