Question Cammed SS goes into "limp mode".

Does anyone have a cammed SS with a tune go into the "reduced engine power' mode? It happens to mine fairly often, usually once every couple of days to several times in a single day. When it occurs one needs to pull over, turn it off and then wait at least twenty minutes for the computer to re-set before attempting to start it up again. If one tries to start it before the "rest period" has run its course, the car won't start at all, not even in "limp mode".

Look up the code that you pull when it goes into limp mode and start from there.. I can be a bunch of different things. Also, doesn't hurt to invest in a cheap scanner. They can also delete the code and remove limp mode without any wait....just pull over and erase the code and you're good to go until it pops back up. I would talk to whoever you had tune the car though.

Tune is jacked... they probably just forgot to turn something off. Limp mode is a good thing... I wouldn't turn that off..

Thanks for the advice about deleting the code, I'll have to try that. As to speaking with the fellow who tuned it, he has tried many times to solve the problem. He tells me that my problem has occurred only with manual six speed SS cars that have taller cams.

Your tuner sucks. Contact someone from the boards, like Ted Jannetty. Problem solved, he's a tuning genius.
