i hope mine gets better, and i think once it is broken in, it will. and i drive it conseratevly but, no fast starts or stops. i may add a CAI later on. but, it is a heavy car, and a vert on top of that, so another 200 pds or so over the coupe. but so fun to drive. but i went with the V6 over the v8 for the gas mileage as this will be daily driver except in bad snow, ice, weather.

I am getting better mpg with my SS, for the longest time I thought I was getting about 15 mpg. Once I realized I needed to clear everything on the readouts back to 0 during a fill up I could see it start to climb to 19 to 20 in town and on a trip to Florida I had it up to 26.5 with cruise on.

Mine's pretty poor too, but I'm still breaking my car in since I use the Mustang as a daily driver.

More about MPG

I also have a '13 2LT conv. It has just turned over 4000 miles. I get an average of around 24 mpg in mostly country driving. How many miles is it to be considered broken in? When I am in town I can see the mpg dropping rapidly, but back on the highway it comes back up. What experience have others had with using higher octane fuel? I had a Miata before this and it was recommended to use Premium; I alternated between mid-grade and premium and got 32 mpg average. Now the price of premium in my area is $0.40 or so over regular. So, unless the improvement in mpg is around 15% or so, it would not be worth the difference. BTW, I am 70+ and drive very conservatively, most of the time.

wow 2011 ss/rs, 26 on hwy, for that v8 is really good, considering it is rated at 24. i got the 2 LT for the gas mileage. the V8 would use too much. my owners manual says that the v6 or the V8 can use 87 octane, which i thought was weird, especially for the v8. my manual says break in is the first 1500 miles. keep in mind, these cars are heavy. i am amazed at the gas mileage corvettes get, with all that horsepower, but they are so sleek. my friends z01 gets 31 on hwy, shoot, thats better than the v6 camaro.

Hwy I get 30-32 MPG.

City/around town I get 25-28 MPG.

Use 89 Octane from either Shell or BP.

Only have the mods listed in my signature.
