Question New, Old Guy... Can't Find Factory Subwoofer

I know my wife's 2015 2LT has the premium Boston sound system, and it's quite obvious it has the 10" subwoofer installed. But, for the life of me I cannot find it.

Was only wanting to make sure I haven't rattled loose any of it's fasteners.

The rear seat folds down, opening up the trunk space (no sign of a speaker installed), and I'm seeing threads where the Subs in other cars are located under the rear seat, but have a perforated panel in the middle between the rear seats to allow air flow. Ours does not, and I haven't figured out how to get under the rear seat, if that's indeed where it is.

Am I on track, or is the subwoofer located elsewhere?

I have searched Google, and of course this forum... but all I seem to find are upgrades to the audio systems, and nothing so far has shown me the physical location of the factory installed Boston 10" Sub.

Thanks,
T-Hawk

You don't specify whether or not you've got a convertible.

If you don't have a 'vert, then you don't have factory installed subwoofer. You'll have 2 speakers on the rear decklid, 2 in the door by your feet, 2 tweeters on door by rearview mirror, and center speaker on dash.

It's not terribly hard to add a sub, if you're looking to tune up the system, though...

It's not the convertible... but the bass response is way too low for it to be just a couple 6x9s on the rear deck.

I'm talking in the 25-30mhz range, with a bit of thump. Way more punch than my 2015 Silverado without any subwoofer...

It rivals the two 12" subs I use on my home theater system.

I just assumed, because the dealer sticker quoted the Premium Boston audio, and the grill covers on the speakers everywhere matches with Boston Premium... that there was a hidden subwoofer somewhere I can't access.

If you have one it would be in the trunk left side that's where the bracket is to mount one.

Thanks for the replies... but you know, the more I think about it, the less likely there is a 10" Sub hidden in there somewhere.

The trunk is empty, the back seat is plain leather, and the MyLink audio adjustments do not account for subwoofer settings... just Bass/Midrange/Treble.

It just amazes me how well the system sounds, if even for a "Premium" Factory system. If you ever wanted to hear and feel the lows... there was a time where you had to install a subwoofer, but I think my wife likes it just the way it is.

We can turn it up to about 22-25 on the volume without any distortion. Bass levels are +6, Mid Range is Flat, and Treble is +12. Any louder, and you have to turn down the bass to no more than +3.

Thanks again for the replies, I think you've answered my question.

I think that's the first time anyone has said that it sounds good. Maybe there is something wrong with your system? They usually sound like crap.

The sub is an option in the coupe, it's not part of the Premium sound system. So unless you paid extra for it, there isn't one. And it's not hidden, drivers side in the plain view.
