Have People lost their common sense?

while driving around town for the past week i have noticed a massive increase of people attempting to black out both their headlights and brake lights. My problem is that instead of having it professionally done these people did 1 of 2 things. go over their lights with a paint brush and black paint.....or put a piece of semi transparent black tape over their lights....

In either case it is almost impossible to see when they are braking or using their turn signal. How could these people find this modification to be a good idea?

it is a serious hazard. these ricers (upgrade usually compliments a fart-can and massive wing) have crossed the line from looking ridiculous to being an accident waiting to happen.

Common sense is far less than its name would imply.

I would recommend installing super bright lights under dark headlights or tails. That's what I will probably do to the rear of my Camaro.

its definitely ok if you put brighter lights on your car
but just taking a paintbrush to it..... not so smart.

What's the point? Is it just to "look cool?" If so, that is just rediculous! Frickin' Ricers!

What I would say has been getting hard to find is "Logical Sense" What so many people are doing now a days is not logical... Gee now I sound like Mr Spock.
Anyone with Half a brain knows it isn't logical to black out your lights, duh lights are there so you can see....or be seen...

Funny you mention that. The other night I was coming home from work at night, and it was pouring rain. Traffic slowed because of a crash a few miles down the road, and I was stuck alongside this Toyota Matrix fully riced out. The idiot blacked out the taillights - more than just smoked, they were actually fully blacked out so only a very thin strip of red made it out of a smoked section. The CHMSL was disconnected. He wasn't using defrosters so every single one of his windows was fogged over. Finally, through the fog, I could see him playing with his cell phone. We make it way too easy for idiots to get a car and take it on the road.

I am all for making the requirements for getting a drivers license more strict. the way that the system is set up now the same people that have the inability to distinguish between stylish and stupid are allowed on the road. at the same time the stricter rules would keep airhead soccer moms and younger people from driving and texting/talking w/o a headset off of the road.

Exactly. The other problem is we teach plenty of rules, but in the basic drivers training required for getting a license we don't talk about actual car control at all. You can get your license without knowing how to recover from hydroplaning or over/understeer. Basically we've made driving a right guaranteed to anyone who can pass a cursory multiple choice exam and a simple driving test. If we made licenses a privilege only for those who take the task seriously and have actual talent we'd solve tons of problems ranging from pollution to highway safety.
