I am looking at the 6 pot upgrade for my self and found a good deal. The yellow cts-v calipers are actually cheaper than tge silver ones and most end up paying them anyways so why spend more. Do you plan to use stock pads or upgrade to something like hawk hps or another brand?

I believe most people are using the stock CTS-V pads, but could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time today anyway.

I was planning on using stock pads myself but the JDP kit comes with Hawk HPS and when I priced them out they are very close in price so I was thinking of using Hawks. However, if I use stock CTS-V pads I won't have to replace the rear pads to match which I probably should do with the HPS pads.

Painted mine and used Hawk HPS pads. Works excellent. Did a hard run in the Local canyons and this set up works better than stock SS brakes. Awesome upgrade.

The stock pads on the rear are not a far off match for the HPS, but we could certainly cut you a really good deal on the rear set with the brake package.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Tyler, could you PM me a price for this setup, painted, fronts only minus the steel brake lines since i already have them. Looking at HPS pads front and rear.

What rotors? CTS-v or ZL-1?

Thanks

The CTS-V rotors are lighter and less expensive which is why I'm going with them. But as I understand they perform the same, at least from what I've researched.

ZL1 rotors are two piece, the CTSV rotors are not...that is the main difference I recall...

We recommend using the lines in the kit as the SS lines are just a tad too tight for comfort. We had Goodridge build a kit to work specially for the CTS-V brake upgrade.

As for rotors, we offer both with the ZL1 rotors as an upgrade.

PM headed your way shortly!

Best regards,

Tyler

Someone weighted the two rotors CTSV vs ZL1. The V rotors are lighter.

The rotors are very different up front. These are dual cast from Brembo with an aluminum hat / center and iron rotor. Even though the new Cadillac rotors are larger and thicker, they weigh the same as the OEM SS Camaro rotors.

I know this, I'm familiar with the CTS-V rotors. I was trying to say above that the the CTS-V rotors are lighter compared to the ZL1 rotors, not compared to the SS rotors.

What I don't know is if there is any performance benefit to the 2-piece ZL1 rotors compared to the dual-cast CTS-V rotors? I don't remember seeing anything that would justify the extra price of the ZL1 rotors for me.

A stamped aluminum hat that attaches to the outer ring with bobbins is more expensive to manufacture. The ring 'floats' in the bobbins and can be replaced. In theory, it should be lighter than the dual-cast CTS-V.

The downside to the dual cast CTS-V rotor is it hard attaches by pins through the spokes in the aluminum cast center. Some report issues with the dual cast distorting. We have run them to death over testing sessions and have never had an issue. That may be related to our choice of brake pads and the insulating value of a binderless pad.
