Stock Gears Broke

Got it last year and it only has 5k miles. Its a Stage 2 nickey camaro with exhaust, headers, pro charger, operation stinger hood, (have racing axles but swapped them for stock), Lorenzo rims, short throw shifter, interior, etc.

Lol got the call from the dealership and its the axles that broke(stock ones too) but we have broke 2 370 gears at the track... Thats some good news!

Would putting on the heavy duty axles cause something else to break when the axles hold up?

Oh and yes it broke when the clutch was dumped

WOW! I put some serious power to my rear wheels many times and never had this happen. Is it a 6-speed or auto?

Are you dumping the clutch? Why would you take out the HD axels if your still running your car aspirated?

Would the better axels help any? Figured we didn't need them since it wasn't racing at the track. Sorry not sure about "dumping the clutch" my dad was driving and I was next to him not sure what all happened but it was either when he let off the clutch or put down the gas

You may want to contact GForce1320 for a bulletproof 9 inch differential.

Hendrix has a 9 inch also.

Both seem to be good units.

It would because your putting more hp to the wheels then what the stock axels are rated at plus if your reving the car at a stop then releasing the clutch quickly into first(dumping the clutch) your putting alot of stress on the rear suspension these cars can't take alot of power unless you beef them up. What speedster said is probably what you have to do to get rid of the problem your having

There was a saying when I was in the Army that went, "1 time is happenstance, 2 times is coincidence, 3 times is enemy action.". Its impossible to tell what it is over the inter webs but there is another factor at play here.

Suggest you invest in a hendrix engineering 9 inch rear.

yes and no. upgraded parts are always nice. but they are not always needed. even the best axles will break with the right amount of wheel hop.

that being said...

Uncle Robin runs the stock rear axles with slicks on his 6XX rwhp LSA powered camaro. and he's cutting 1.60 60's
