Question 3.6 to 6.2 swap ?

Ok cant say i know alot about cars. But if i wanted to
switch engines fron the 3.6 to the 6.2 would I have to
change transmission and suspension the guy at my local
chevy dealer didnt have the answer. Or would it just be easier
to order the SS and trade/sell mine ?

It would be so much easier to just sell yours and buy an SS

:face palm:seems pointless....with the extra money its gonna cost to do that, you should just go with the ss, it will most likely come out cheaper that way.

You'd have to swap everrrything. I would just go buy an SS somehow. You would be car-less for a while while it's getting done.

Sell it outright, then order an SS. Even with the depreciation, it's still gonna be cheaper and less problems.

Step 1: Buy 1SS

Step 2: Purchase spare front clip from a V6

Step 3, pull the SS clip off, throw on the LT clip.

Step 4: Repaint front clip

Step 5: ???

Step 6: PROFIT!

Step 7: Kick self in head..

Anyone who is thinking of buying a V6 and one day changing to a better engine needs to stop thinking that right now.

The SS isn't just a better engine and brakes. Suspension is setup for that engine...replacing a V6 car with a better engine is too risky and potentially damaging.

All of you are wrong! The first step is to do more research. You're trying to swap a V6 with a V8. Why do you want the 6.2L V8? You're clearly only choosing that V8 in order to clone the SS. That's a meaningless upgrade. If you're going to do custom work with a car, then you need to make it worth your time and money. It will cost you a lot to get a V8 in there. You're better off getting the body in white for $7,000 and starting from scratch.

If you have a V6, then I would start considering building it for forced induction. Hennessey is considering a kit for the LLT, and that will carry a premium of $6,000 for about 400rwhp on the V6, making it competitive with the V8.

How rich are you? Because of course that voids the powertrain warranty.

Can it be done? Yes if you have lot of money to spend anything can be done you could even send it to one of the major shops and buy a crate engine and get a blower etc etc. It's all about the $$$.

When? probably when you start seeing cars out of warranty. Otherwise like people have said go the sale and upgrade route.
