Angry Low Oil Pressure: 3,600 miles

Gentlemen place your bets.

Car has 3,600 miles on it. Went out to start her up to drive to work and soon as i started her get a Low Oil Pressure Warning: Shut engine off. Let her run for a second and super noisy valve-train ticking. Shut her down. Checked oil and everything was perfect. Started her again and same result but once i gave her a little gas and got the RPM's going light went off and the valve-train quieted down.

Havent even made it to the track yet, and been babying the car since i got her. Only mods are the longtubes, muffler delete, new era intake and Vector Tune. Havent even made it to the track yet this year or even really driven her hard. Car has been idling super low at times and rougher than normal and been noticing some drastic performance differences over the last 2 months.

Taking her to the dealership tommorow see whats up.

Bets on the problem?
Bets on if they void my Warranty?

I'd take the headers and tune out before seeing Mr. Dealer. At least the tune, they find that and kiss your warranty goodbye.

My bets will be - bad oil pump and voided warranty if you don't remove the tune.

yea, install your original tune, head up to the dealer and tell them your problem.

about running lean, have you done any data logs with your vector tune? how do you know you were running lean? were you getting a light or did you log a lean AFR at WOT.

Another problem will be the LT headers ... They ain't stupid and know you would have to run a tune with them ...

Oil pump problem or regulator/relief valve stuck. Even with LT/tune this a good area to argue they did not cause the oil pump to fail. The only thing I can see if the tune allowed the engine rpm to max out over a stock set up.

There is a pressure relief valve for the AFM system in the oil pan. This might be the cause of your problem. There is a proceedure for the dealer to check this relief valve. Unfortunately, if it is this valve, the engine may have to be removed (or the front frame removed) to get the pan off. The LS3 uses the same oil pan assembly.

Some of the earlier productions had an oil pan leak recall, go to the dealer. Go to dealership let them check it out.

// update //

Couldn't get an appointment at any of the local dealerships, so i called Chevy's Warranty dept. and explained whats going on. Even explained over the phone what I've done to the car and they agreed that it couldnt have caused whatever is going wrong with the car.

So they called the dealership themselves and got my car in. Because of the holiday however i wont know whats wrong until Monday afternoon. Reflashed the computer back to the factory tune ( not that they wont be able to tell anyway ) before i dropped her off just in case.

Glad this happened when it did- i was planning on installing a 150 wet shot this weekend and making a few passes at the track-

will update more on monday.
