VIBRATION ISSUE WITH DSS 1400 HP AXLES

Who else is having a vibration issue with DSS 1400 hp axles. My car started with a vibration under load 4 weeks after installing my 1400 hp axles. The vibration was driving me crazy, it would start in 3rd gear and all the way up to 6 gear, but only when the car was under load. My car was taken to TORQ who diagnosed the vibration to be the axles. The stock axles were reinstalled and the vibration was completely gone. I have shipped the axles back to DSS for repair. While attending the 1st Annual Sunshine State Camaro Rally in Orlando, I spoke to several forum members who have been having the same exact problem with there DSS 1400 HP axles.

No issues with mine. 7000 miles with road course and drag strip participation as well.

Beign that you sent the axles back, im assuming you talked to Frank and the guys at DSS. i'm sure they will take care of you and give you the satisfaction that they have given everyone else when a problem has risen. I can honestly say that this is the first i've heard of vibration issues and that the DSS team will take care of the problem.

Good Luck Brian

I was also surprised when I heard others were having the same problem to. Hopefully its only a couple of us that had bad luck. I agree that Frank and the rest at DSS group are top notch.

Manny as you already know, I had the same exact problem ... Under load, the vibration was sooooo bad it felt like my interior panels were gonna come apart. So, I took my car back to Torq, where I purchased and installed the DSS axles, and they diagnosed the problem to be the axles. Thankfully Erik@Torq took care of the issue (under warranty of course) and had a new set of axles on my car in a week.

I picked up my car last Thursday with the new set of axles and so far so good. Hopefully the problem doesnt come back as the first set took two-three weeks before the vibrations started. Ill keep you guys updated....

We had an issue with the inner race for a short time, the issue was the races were not as hard as they should have been and i am very sorry that some of you have had this issue. being most of the cars are lowered the ball runs in a different spot and it causes the inner race to wear pre-maturely.

This being said we are always trying to improve the product and have been working with a new material that will be strong enough and also not have the problem with the balls. below is the prototype that we are actually doing destructive testing on later this week (will post results when done)

here is the prototype race

race to the right is the new material we are going to be testing, its able to be done at a higher Rockwell but still have the strength needed.

keep in mind this set of axles we designed for high Hp cars at the track, it has been tested by the best and currently is in every record breaking Camaro. We have not not had a single 300m axle failure (the 1st design with big and little bars did) The issue we have is this. if we go back to the smaller bar and a standard race the axle bar will break at higher Hp (we have had the smaller 28 spline bars break in many platforms) so the trade off was to make the race from 300m and use the larger 30 spline bars, We have seen the need for a more of a "street" friendly axle and this is why the new "Street Sense" axle is being released very soon it has a more street friendly design for DD cars (along with the new races for the 1400hp version)

Being the car is 4000lbs and the axles run at a high angle it has caused more issues than anticipated but we never give up. if any one has an issue send me a PM and ill let you know of the progress personally and keep you up to date, then take care of the issue as needed. We will always make good on our products and strive for the best in customer service.

thanks Frank

Just had the 1400hp axles installed on my car. I only have 300 miles on them but no vibration here.
