Alpine dash kit problem
So my battery died and the HVAC on the dash kit was set on heat. When I got a new battery put back in, everytime I turn the car on, it goes to heat. Even if I change it to cold A/C. It reverts back to heat. I took back to my installer, he pulled the dashkit out to reset it and it didnt work. Alpine can not fix it and they don't make the dashkit anymore. How can I reset the dashkit so it doesn't go to heat everytime I turn the car on?

I'd guess there is a simple switch somewhere or electrical gremlin living inside that got his feelings hurt giving you trouble, but without access to the dash kit on a full electrical bench you are most likely SOL.
You *might* have a warranty claim for a similar dash kit *IF* you used AMEX or another CC that offers an extended warranty. Otherwise, if your installer isn't providing support, you may have a dead unit and looking at full dash kit replacement to PAC/Metra/Scosche. Paying an EE professional to diagnose the problem could cost as much as a replacement kit.

If you go into the settings menu there is a reset function. Try that, hope it works.

Scosche is the company that made the kit for Alpine. You might find an answer by searching for similar issues with Scosche branded kits.

I had this unit before, press the SET button, keep pressing until you find factory reset.

I tried the reset and that didn't work. Is there a fuse that I could pull to reset the HVAC?

Not that I remember, if that doesn't work, try disconnecting the negative battery terminal overnight. Then reconnect it in the morning, if that doesn't work, contact Scosche, they built it for Alpine.

I have the exact same problem, I have tried resetting that thing through settings and the wait 5-7 minutes before plugging method countless times, Ive taken it apart to see if there's anything on the circuit board like a battery to reset it, but had no luck.

Here is the email I got:
Gabriel Flores 6:08 PM (2 hours ago) to me You can try resetting the interface using the following steps. The issue you may be experiencing may be due to a data miscommunication between the Scosche interface and the vehicle’s data system. The way to properly reset the interface is explained below: 1. Turn the vehicle off, take the keys out of the ignition, open a door (doesn’t matter which one),disconnect the 24 pin and then the 8 pin connector from the back of the touch screen AC module, and then get into the vehicle with the module disconnected and close all the vehicle doors including the trunk and hood. 2. Wait in the vehicle for 5-7 minutes. 3. During the 5-7 minutes make sure to have everything powered off, do not reopen any doors, do not step out of the vehicle. 4. After 5-7 minutes, plug the 24 pin connector first and then the 8 pin connector back into the module and start the vehicle all the way on so the engine is running. Make sure not to exit the car or open any doors until after this process is complete. Once you’ve started the car is when the interface should reinitialize and hopefully resolve your issues. Best Regards |

It's the instructions included in the kit, let us know if that helps.
