Braking issues!
I have a 2010 SS/RS supercharged/meth DD auto with 540 hp at the rear wheels.
From a rolling start or on the highway i can hit 150 mph in a blink of an eye! but the stopping power is not that great, it's a pig to slow down. is there a quick fix without breaking the bank? like pads/rotor upgrade, that's about as far as i'm willing to go thank you in advance and have a nice day! |

ZL1/CTS-V Brake kit. If you need more add track pads to them. Stainless steel lines are a plus. There are Threads in this forum on these upgrades.

if you are not tracking @ a road course, pretty sure a good race pad up front will be enough. Repeated 150 to 50 braking multiple times in minutes will take more like adding brake ducts and or upgrading like mentioned to CTSV/ZL1 fronts

Like speed, braking 4,000lbs fast is just a question of money. How fast do you need to stop every day from 150mph? Police have been the best brakes out there to date. Any time I exceeded the speed limit I only had to coast down to 65mph.

My thinking; When Chevy added 150hp to the camaro SS, what did they do? They put on CTS-V brakes! Why? More HP needs more brakes. Standard automotive engineering practice. Just my $0.02

If they don't work out the CTSV front brakes would be about a $1200 upgrade.

Change the brake lines to stainless with Castrol synthec fluid and try Carbotech brake pads AX6 you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!! Listen I tried all the rest and like i said you will not be disappointed. Just keep in mine that all performance brake pads squeal with light brake pressure.

what 130R says.........
if ABS is cycling and you are not boiling your fluid, tires are the limiting factor. increase the friction between the car and the road.........change tires

Try going with a set of Hawk HP+ Pads, i think you will like them.
They stop a ton better than the stock pads do, they handle the heat a lot better too. The down side is they squeak more, and make more dust. |

+1, the 6 pot brakes offer a greater swept area of braking, larger rotor/pads, so they offset more heat and resist fade. Cars taken to the track usually have wider/stickier tires so the ABS threshold increases as well. Regular street tires are just going to kick off ABS earlier.

The hawks squeaked a lot which wasn't an issue for me. The problem was that after track days they screeched without applying the brakes.
