1. The 1LE is designed for "track" use. Autos are not considered track cars.

2. By asking the question, one can assume you do not plan to "track" the car. So why bother with the 1LE?

3. Although many will disagree, why an SS at 18? Do you have any experience with high hp cars or driving in general? These cars get seasoned drivers in trouble everyday.

Let the flaming begin...

How about you just read the brochure that someone else posted and read the specs. In short, the 1LE package only comes in manual. And like everyone said already, it's a track car and track cars don't come with automatic trans.

The 1LE does not come in an automatic. What is it about the 1LE that intrigues you?

Please let me know!

I guess he wants to be the first person to put an auto 1LE under pressure on a track?

You want the 1LE in auto? Simple! buy the car then buy a 6spd auto tranny and have the dealership install it. It'll cost you around 48k I imagine. STILL cheaper than a ZL-1!

OnNza, you live in Wisconsin? Have fun with that Camaro in the snow. I had a lot of fun growing up in central IL (back in the "old days" when it used to actually snow there...) on icy, empty parking lots. It does teach you a lot.

The 1LE has no automatic option because it is a no-BS car prepped for road courses. A manually shifted car with a competent driver will always be faster around a road course when compared to a similar automatic car. If you can't drive a manual correctly, maybe the 1LE isn't for you.
Sometimes I wonder about GM's decision to add an automatic option in the ZL1....

Well, in my opinion, it's as close to the Z28 this 5th gen has got. Plus I like things that are a little different.
