Real SS....?....
Was just at the local Wal-Mart and parked up front was a "SS" badged Camaro. Car had some aftermarket pinstriping, and different rims that weren't stock. Interestingly, not Brembo labeled piston brakes, but a chromed one that looked like a bad aftermarket.
Here's the thing: Has there been an SS without the tell-tale "mailslot", because this one DID NOT have it. I looked inside and it was an A6 and what looked like leather seats. Finally, and this pisses me off, as I knew better, but it was a red badged SS, meaning SS/RS but I didn't note if the headlights were RS halos or not. Sorry. So question, can this be an SS/RS or is it an imposter?..... |

If they swapped out the front bumper, it would be a lot harder to tell if it's a SS. Was the front end stock?

My guess is the front end was swapped. Afew people have done that because they did not like the mailslot. Did you happen to look at the exhaust tips or the rear diff?

Well most likely its a v6 but I fastest way to tell is look at the exhaust. If the exhaust is still stock then look at the size of the tips. The SS tips are noticeably bigger.

V6's with SS stuff on them SS's with ZL1 stuff on them, V6's with ZL1 stuff on them, SS's with V6 stuff on them... When it comes right down to it, it shouldn't be a concern to anyone. People are going to make their Camaro to suit their taste. Just enjoy what you have and don't worry about what others have. JMHO...

Hard to say without actually talking to the guy that owns it.
There's a good chance it's not an SS. Tell tale would be the front end, the different brakes, and mismatched badges (no halos, but RS badges, right?) My guess would be poser. I don't get why people would do that, I'm happy my car is a V6, I wouldn't claim otherwise.

Definitely, no reason to pose or pretend. You have a Camaro, be proud of what you have. Badge it correctly lol.

Easy way to tell is by looking at the speedometer.

I gave some thought to this, but decided it's kind of irrelavent without noticing all the details on a car that people have badged V6's as SS's before and done some bad appearance mods that were less than what they had originally. Seriously though I'd bet on it being a V6 just from the description.

People have been placing SS on cars since the 60's that were not SS, so unless you intend to pull up next to them and see what they have for ya just enjoy your ride.
