I think someone asked this prior, but is this an isolated issue for the MY13 ZL1's? I just picked up a 15' last weekend and this is certainly something that is concerning and assumedly needs to be monitored. Car is super quiet in the engine bay right now, but I want to stay vigilant and not run into any long term issue. FWIW I have just over 14K miles on the car and from dealer history and CARFAX (recall history), there was never a repair claim made for this issue on mine.

As a '15, you should be completely fine.

Oh man... I'm glad I went with my gut instinct on this, and stepped away.

I took a 2012 ZL1 for a test drive yesterday, and upon starting the car, I could hear the rattle. Just from idling. I was like, what the heck is that sound. Didn't sound right in the least.

2012 ZL1 w/ 31,xxx miles.

Its covered for 10 years or 120,000 miles , If the price is right and it's the car you want why walk away?

I took some video of my ZL1 running without the supercharger belt and another with the belt on. I was of the opinion that I will leave my car as it is to avoid blocking my warranty. But I have some more information about the supercharger repair in the form of a service bulletin from around 2014. At that time GM was installing the solid isolator as a fix for the rattle. Unfortunately my car is in storage until the spring. We don't get to drive our Zl1s during the winter in Canada. Too much snow and it does get cold! Check out my videos.

There really is a difference running the motor without the belt versus with the belt. Can't really hear the rattle inside the car with the windows up. Still really want my car repaired though.

I to have though about doing this solid isolator repair but I just can't seem to justify it yet. The car sounds ok to me. No major rattle or noise as of yet.I have around 12k on her and with about 7-10 track days to boot.

Guess I'll just address it when it gets to the point where it effects performance of the car....
I never had rattle, but at 16k I am getting the bearing squeal.

With my original supercharger, I noticed some bearing squeal along with rattling. It's now only rattling. I would have the squealing checked out. Could be the bearings have had the lube sucked out of them.

Yeah. Snow here now so not driving it much. Don't really want to change SC and get a rattling one or some other dealer caused problem.

Got my car booked in to have another try at solving the loud rattling that's coming from the supercharger. The noise has gotten much louder since I put the car back on the road after being in storage for the winter. I have no illusions that this time will be much different than the previous attempts at repairing it. But, you never know, maybe it'll get sorted out this time.

Got mine back last week. Supercharger noise is definitely gone. Now I have and IAT issue. Temps are running 150+. I'm not sure they followed proper procedure when clearing air out of the heat exchanger coolant lines. Time for them to look at it again.

Glad you have no noise from the supercharger! You certainly did have a good luck getting that sorted out. Sucks that you have an IAT issue now. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

Update: The dealer says the supercharger is going to be replaced with yet another new unit tomorrow. So this will be my second replacement unit. The one that's being replaced is actually much worse then the original. The noise appears to be within the supercharger housing, rather than from the snout/islolator area.

Good news! I got my car back from the shop, and it is finally fixed! It sounds as it should. No rattling or any other weird noises. I was just going to live with the noises, but they got worse. It seems like I finally got a supercharger that solved the issues the car was having. I stand corrected, GM does back their warranty on these superchargers.

Check out this link to my video:
