2 annoyances:

I just got another two recall notices in one week re the GM key recall for
the ignition key. One from the GM "Recall Safety Team" and another from
a local Chevy dealer. You would think by now they would realize I'm not interested.

And even worse is the now DAILY phone calls re extending my warranty on
my '10 Camaro SS. I just called to be put on the No Call List but apparently
that takes up to 30 days.

Sorry, just venting.

I received another notice for the key. I just threw it away. I haven't received any calls for the warranty, though I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. It is usually for crap anyway.

You'll be sorry when your knee grows fingers and turns the key off on the freeway! Lol

Just chunk that shit. At this moment my burned out headlight and low tire pressure is more of a crash risk, would they fix that for free?

I have received phony warranty renewals.

Yep I got mine in the mail yet again over this key nonsense. Just like the previous 10 notices it went in the trash can right away. I understand recalls and why the manufacturer pushes to get them done. The dealerships could careless of our safety lol... They just see the $$$ they get paid for addressing these recalls.

I just got a recall notice on my 13 Ram 3500 regarding something under the hood that could cause high heat issues as well as a fire. This recall I will have done even though it's a pain in the butt.

I need to update my "do not call list". I always do it online and it use to be instant.. Maybe that's changed but once you get on the list I know it's only good for a few years or so.

Don't hold your breath on the Do Not Call list being useful.
I still get calls and am told they just mask their number with a computer to
read different than their actual number so you cannot go after them.
So I resorted to "No Ringtone" for calls not in my contact list.
I can then review them and decide if I want to call back.

Third party companies get your info and call over and over. I still get calls on cars I don't own.

As for the recall- the dealer can put in their system that you declined and run it through their warranty system. It will close the recall on their system and you won't hear about it again.

Just do the recall. It's only a key. I don't care how my car starts, as long as it starts.

Question

I want to keep my switchblade keys. How much would it cost to buy 2 new key fobs and keys? I'm thinking I'll just tell my dealer I lost both switchblade keys and I need new keys now.

I just got new blades cut as "spares". I think I'm going to go ahead and get the recall completed, and still have the ability to go back to "#switchblading". Best of either world, plus, the annoying correspondence will stop.

Can you post a picture of your key currently? I'm guessing you haven't gone in yet. I have an LS1, but my other car is a 2004 Malibu Classic that also had a key recall as well. It didn't make sense to me at all, but when I saw what was done to the key, it made perfect sense.

And venting happens

I was under the impression that once you go in for the recall the switchblade factory key was trashed. Replacing it with just a regular key (nothing special). Heck I may even do the recall if there is a option to still have a switchblade key or 2 even if they can be purchased.

So we could just buy one of these for example and the dealer will cut it as well as program the remote to work on our cars?

Not for all dealerships - Ive told them NUMEROUS times on the phone, and in person of my decision to decline. Still get emails, snail mails, and phone calls
