Swedish Camaro fans real life impressions of an IOM 2SS

Yesterday we went on a little detour while cousin was driving home anyways. We went to see one of the first Camaro's in Sweden. Here follows a photographing depiction of these events.

A stretch of the E18 highway going down to Stockholm from Norrtälje. Great big open road a bit of the way and I've probably been on it thousands of times by now.

We arrived at the dealership after passing trough Stockholm where I was quite taken aback...

...by this stunning machine. A brand new 2SS , manual, in Inferno Orange Metallic. Not my favorite paintjob but I didn't care. The car in itself is fantastic.

So naturally I and bro began checking it out.

It's just stunning from all angles! And yes those wheels look big, but they actually don't look that big in real life when paired with the car.

A nice secretary had pity on us and opened it up, and the real fun began.

I reeeally like the interior. That shifter just fit perfectly in my hands and the wheel while quite chunky was extremly comfortable. I'd heard some people found the manual SS hard to shift but the only thing that took a bit of effort was going into reverse and that wasn't too hard either.

Bro looking for the USB and Aux port.

We decided to close it and feel how it REALLY felt to sit in. And let me tell, it's pretty snug for a guy my size (I'm 6'3" and tall in the torso), but still plenty of room to move about, could probably move the seat forward a bit (the seats are supremly comfortable btw).

Only thing I had a problem with was the roof height, seeing as the sunroof was installed on this one and that caused me to scuff the roof with the top of my head. Luckily there's extra room in the cabin if you get it without the sunroof, and I don't want it anyway.

Bro did try and sit in the backseat but unfortunately we don't have a pic of that. He looked...let's say VERY firmly in place back there. We tried to put the seat back when he was in there, and succeded, but the room in front of him when his legs touched the seatback was barely enough for a very small person.

Oh and the visibility would seem like it's claustrofic, and yes while it's not quite as airy as the Passat wagon we got there in, it's still very managable and while there are some bling spots the mirrors take care of it. Plus it's a small price to pay for this amount of style.

See that guy right there? That's a VERY happy guy! Unfortunately he's a very broad guy as well, but taking care of that.

We had to get going after a bit, but all in all it was a very succesful trip to the dealership as evidenced by bros and especially my smile in this pic right here. I am definetly going to get this car at some point. If I can afford an SS that will be it, but if I can only afford an 2LT and is happy with the power in that one (which it seems I might be) it will okay with be since the differences on the exterior isn't really that huge and as long as I get the 2LT I get that FANTASTIC leather interior...

As for us European fans, I'd say this car can definetly work on European roads. It is big, but not as huge as a the Challenger. Plus the attention this car gets. It doesn't show in the pics that much but the whole time there was people standing around and staring at the car. Chevrolet better hurry up and start selling this in Europe because I assure you this will be a hit around here as well.

That one is ridiculously expensive, they want 595 000 Swedish crownes (about 55K Euro or 77K USD) for that, which may or may not seem like such an overprice, but when you compare it to the brand new 2010 Ford Mustang Coupe they also had that's at 435 000 Swedish Crownes (about 40K Euro or 55K USD) it's really not too good a price since the Camaro is supposed to be just a little bit more expensive then that. To put it further in perspective, it's more expenseive then the SRT8 Challenger they have in.

Simply they're going by the laws of supply and demand. They are selling it for that much since they KNOW someone will pay that since it's one of the first Camaros in the country. Personally I can wait seeing as I don't have the money and even if I did I would not pay that much. Also since it's now been comfirmed that they will start to sell the Camaro in Germany at least so the prices will go down in the future.

Glad to see you liked the car. I would imagine the Challenger is a much more comfortable ride for someone of your size than the Camaro. The extra size of the cabin, seats and especially cabin height of the Challenger would suit you better for daily use in my opinion. I've driven both the Challenger and Camaro and have decided on getting the Camaro mainly for the looks as I fell in love with the car watching Transformers 1. with the taxes in Sweden, the cost must be tremendous over there...

Actually I have tried the Challenger but since that was also the sunroof version I scuffed the top of my head in that as well. Sure the interior is more open and such but the Challenger only grabs me on the exterior, the Camaro is fantastic on both the exterior and interior. Plus I prefer the Camaros lower seating. And I really can't imagine ever getting the V6 Challenger while the V6 Camaro would not be too big a sacrifice if I couldn't afford an SS.

It's a dealership that specialises in imports that aren't usually available in Sweden, such as the Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, more exotic Porsches and Mercs, Nissan GT-R, Escalade, Avalance. Suburban, Tahoe, RAMs and so on.
