Yes. I wasn't sure if a beefier chain would have clearence issues with the cam phaser.

I see some pretty deep pits on the rotors bud and on the inside of the cover I see some long scratches. Or is it just me.

The pictures are decieving. The rotors are pretty clean, I did revove them and the housing is clean as well. There are a couple of scratches on the cover but they are not in any way enough to cause a loss in oil pressure. When I get the pump out I will clean and examine it closely and post better pics as well but the gear/housing part of the pump is not the problem. I'm wondering if I can detect a stuck relief valve without possibly causing it to free and re-seat properly. I am very curious as to if that is the problem although I don't see what else it can be unless I'm missing something.

The katech C5r timing chain is considerably beefier and it's the same size. It has a "0" failure rate in their racing program and those are hard miles lol.

But at least it's nice to know you don't have to change the oil pump!

LOL.

But, the skip shift eliminator is a lot cheaper than an LS3 conversion.

Lmao between you and rare991? You guys have confused the shiat outta me lol

The OP has an L99 and they have been better than Ls3 pumps thus far.
The only weak link between L99's and Ls3's are those DOD lifters. I confused lol.

Just referring to things that need to be changed out to make the L99 & LS3 more of a an "equal"..

I didn't know that the L99 oil pump was better until I read that info here.

But it still doesn't make up for the fact I have to do an LS3 conversion to get my "26 hp" back.

have not worked on a LS engine yet, all the previous gen small blocks had the relief valve in the oil filter housing.

I work at a large Chevrolet dealership, still haven't seen an oil pump failure on a Camaro come through the door yet. Maybe itll take more time and mileage before I start seeing them.
