AND I just went to the Tom Tom site....and according to it....they still have the instructions up that states you can still add/create your own icons.

there is a link at the top of page that will send you to a list of all the devices that it will work for.

and here are the instructions, which are basically they one at the beginning of this thread.

I did a little reading....and with the new Tom Tom's, you have to get the new software, you can't use Tom Tom HOME anymore.....you have to use MyDrive. and its not as easy as before, but there is a way to up-load content....I didn't get the details, but I was reading about it on one of their forums and its possible.

I found the only way to get my car on my new Tom Tom was by first adding it to my old one and then use the Tom Tom data transfer software to transfer the car images to the new one.

True enough.....of anyone has one of these Tom Tom's (GO 2000 series, VIA series, GO LIVE series, Blue&Me TomTom 2, Sony XNV, TomTom Connect , GO 40, GO 50, GO 60, GO 400, GO 500, GO 600, GO 510, GO 610, START 40, START 50, START 60) you will have the My Drive software, not the Tom Tom Home. and do as Angry Bird did in the above post.

You can do it on a Garmin too.

I did it on my nuvi 260 and then put that on my newer 3597 unit too. Plus was able to put my red GM truck on there as well to swap back and forth depending on which vehicle I'm using.

I just happen to have a yellow Camaro with black stripes, so the bumblebee icon worked perfectly for me.

Mine are all older models and still use TomTom Home...so even if I download MyDrive, unless I had a model to plug it into to I can't dig around.

BUT unless they did something completely different, you should be able to connect your tom tom and go to and open up "windows explorer" or "my computer" and you will see your Tom Tom listed as a separate drive. Open it up, and that is where you should see the ART and CAR folders, which is where you save your new icon. Make your new car icon and place it in there, then you will be able to select it.

New ones won't allow you to see it in windows explorer. That is why you needed to first load the new picture into the old Tom Tom and use their file transfer program to move your new car icon over to the new Tom Tom. See my previous posts. When my old computer died I bought my new Computer and now they no longer have the transfer program available to download.

well that sux.....by chance have you contacted them via email and ask them directly if its still available? Why I ask, is that many times they still have available, but its not easy to find on the site, some-what hidden. They called it "Transfer Assistant" I believe. It wouldn't hurt to ask. Worst thing they could do is to tell you "no longer available". If you find an answer, please post it up in here.

Just got off the phone with Tom Tom, they said it is impossible to transfer the car Iconsfrom the old devices to the newer ones. I asked about the Transfer Assistant and they played dumb like they never heard of it before.. oh well.
