All that said, the new Camaro is set to go on sale next year and GM rarely (if ever) has a high performance model in the lineup at launch. Usually its a year or two later. Which means that we likely won't have a new ZL1 or Z/28 or whatever else they decide to call the 'top dog' 6th Gen Camaro until at least mid 2016. But thats not because of the Corvette, its because of marketing. By adding to the line up, they can get people talking about the car again -after all the launch buzz has died down. This helps to keep sales volume more consistent: there is always more demand than capacity at launch, so if it can be stretched out it makes the plant workers & part suppliers happy (ie, its not 'feast or famine').
