ECS @ LSx Shootout - Bringing The Boost To Indy !
LSx Shootout 2011 - The ECS Wrap-up!
Indianapolis, IN – October 7th-9th 2011 ECS Just returned home from another successful outing at the GM Performance Parts LSx Shootout in Indianapolis, IN. We brought out three cars for this year’s event; Shop Manager, Matt Sorian’s 2011 Gen V Camaro, and John Miller's 2006 C6 Z06. Both cars ran the Tremec Transmissions LSx True Street class. The name says it all… this class is for “true” street cars. Take your licensed, insured vehicle on a 30-mile, police-escorted cruise and then make 3 back-to-back passes down the track. Matt’s Gen V hosts a base ECS Supercharging System with a Paxton Novi 1500, an ECS “Big Blower” camshaft, ECS Alky Control Methanol System, a Drive Shaft Shop 9” IRS conversion with DSS Level V HD Axles, a TH350 Transmission and host of Pfadt Street Suspension goodies! Matt entered his car in the Tremec Transmissions LSx True Street Class and the Camaro Performers 5th Gen Camaro Challenge (10.50 Index). With the addition of the DSS rear & the Pfadt goodies in the rear, we are pulling consistent 60' times. We did not raise the 2-step up to hit the tires hard, but low 1.5x's all day. The car performed flawlessly, clicking off a number of sub-10.50 passes only to break the transmission in the first round of eliminations. - ECS Base Supercharger System - ECS Big Blower Cam Package - Driveshaft Shop 9" IRS Conversion - Custom 4" Aluminum Driveshaft - DSS Level V HD Axles - Pfadt Racing Suspension - Street Coilovers with Drag Springs - Rear Bushing Set (Poly) - Rear Trailing Arms & Adj. Toe Rods - Rear Drag Sway Bar - TH350 Transmission w/ Transbrake - Stock 20" Fronts - 18" C6Z Rear Rims with Mickey Thompson 305/45/18 Street II Radials ------ Miller's 2006 Z06 was driven by ECS Co- Owner Doug Ring, who won the LSx King of True Street in 2009. The Z06 was entered into two classes the Proform LSX Rumble (9.0 Index) and Tremec Transmissions True Street. Miller’s car hosts an ECS built RHS 427ci engine topped with Mast Motorsports Heads and a ECS Supercharging System with a YSI head Unit. This car was featured in the September issue of Vette Magazine showcasing the ECS Hardcore Edition. This Z makes 1066 RWHP through a 6-speed manual!!! For this event, we installed an ECS Powerglide with a modified DriveShaft Shop 9” IRS & DSS Level V HD Axles. This swap is a true bolt in – no cutting or fabrication necessary. The car performed flawlessly on the 30 mile Cruise and laid down a 9.13 @ 154, a 9.02 @ 154, only to have a throttle position sensor fail, spoiling his 3rd pass and costing him a repeat performance as the LSx King of True Street. In qualifying for the Rumble, Doug ran a 8.88 @ 156MPH, and in the first round he decided to run it out the back door to show what this Z06 has, a 8.78 @ 156MPH!!! HUGE Thanks to Driveshaft Shop, Pfadt Racing, & American Racing Headers for their continued support! We have not uploaded the video of the Camaro yet in time trials, but here is a video of the C6Z06 at just after midnight on Saturday. (We do not know who the guy was in the video giving the thumbs up). * Photo below is courtesy of GM High Tech Performance Magazine * |

The Corvette is HAULING. Great job guys, 1.5x isn't too shabby either. Keep us updated on progress as the new trans goes in!

The Corvette does feature Pfadt's rear drag sway bar.. Definitely helps on them launches. We need a bigger tire on there for this kind of power. We were tire limited because of True Street class... Now it's on with the slick and up with the 2-step

Ya John.. We left the party a bit early on Thursday night to start the night off closer to our hotel I am sure we'll run across each other sooner than later at next year's shootouts!
Great time though all weekend, especially racing after midnight. We don't get those luxuries here with noise restrictions... Oh and no one got hurt on the golf cart so thats a plus (Well, it could have been funny if someone did though). All-in-all good weekend. The planetary housing blew apart inside the trans & flipped the sprague so we're repairing now! |
