I did that on my LS1 WS6 using the unused EGR input to the ECM. Had to add the pin into the ECU harness on my '02. (no EGR stock).
I had HPT standard when I started tuning since my 4 cyl Cobalt turbo LNF came factory with a WB. Upgraded to pro on the LS3.

Yeah i have heard upgrading is a little more expensive than just buying pro in the first place. Definitely would make things easier!
I think we're all pretty excited to get started. Good to know you guys are willing to help.

HPTuners -v- SCT
How much is an upgrade does anyone know? I sold my pro with the corvette since the license was tied to it and the new owner needed it...3 bar speed density tune with a ton of boost.
Have the standard now that I had laying around. Not much good unless I'm on a dyno with a wideband using the air/fuel graph. And PS the HP Tuners forum alone is worth the price of admission. It's basically free classes and best of all the engineers actually post in there and give out help and advice! |

I think it's around $265. Not sure on that.

Eek seems more cost effective to unload the standard on fleabay and buy the pro with 2 new licenses.

Maybe so. Like we were talking about briefly, you can fudge it with a little ambition.

HPT comes with 8 credits, enough for 4 vehicles in most cases.

We use EFI Live here at the shop. I am very fluent in both EFI and HP and those are the two choice I would suggest. If you ever have any questions feel free to call or send me a pm.

Cool! Thanks Shawn. Sounds like we might be able to infuse camaro5 with a little more technical conversation. Looking forward to it.

If you have a SCT tuner allready, you can also look at the SCT Pro Racer software. The Pro Racer is design to do custom changes similar as HP tuners. It will only work with the vin number you provide though.

I haven't heard much at all about their forum other than it's Ford-biased. I wouldn't know though because it's locked to the public!

A friend of mine was basically forced into SCT for his new 5.0 since HPT doesn't support it. He was not too pleased since he's used HPT for 5 years.

Everything I have read/learned thus far has been HPT based. The concepts are difficult enough for a newbie... I definitely don't want to try and translate it to another software that I've never seen before, can't get a demo of, and can't see the help resource I'll have access to once purchased. I'm sure it works great... but I'll never find out.
Try searching "VE table SCT pro racer". Not very encouraging .
