It might not help, but it is an easy try... It has helped sometimes when my iphone is doing silly things with the ford sync in the Escape I own.

Did this fix it for you Zack? I had to do this with my phone because of a few glitches I was noticing after connecting to the Car Play and it fixed them. Also would check the USB cord as stated, I had mine disconnect a few times with an older cord I was using, I switched to a new cord and haven't had any issues since. Hope it's nothing major.

My carplay isnt working either
Quote:
My apple carplay stopped working about 3 months after i got the car. So far what i have done is a reset within the radio settings and a hard reset my iphone. That didn't solve the problem so i took the car to the dealer and after 3 days they diagnose it(with GM's help) the radio module needing replacement. It was replaced today and the dealer just called to tell me that carplay still doesnt work. So they are calling GM because they can't solve the issue alone. Were you able to solve this issue? Did you go to the dealer and if so what did they do to fix it? I know it's not my ports cuz the phone still gets a charge and i know it's not the cable cuz i used 2 different iphone cables. The ones that come with the phone when purchased. I tried it with my iphone 6s+ and an iphone 6. |

I had the same issue just happen today on my 2016 SS. It's not a daily driver so it's not being over used or abused. Wife used her phone on it roughly 10 days ago. Tried mine today and nothing, won't even charge. Tried it on her iphone and nothing again. Then proceeded to try her iPhone cord on both phones...again not even a charge. Wondering if the USB ports lost power or tripped a fuse or something. Only got about 1100 miles on it thus far. Bluetooth works fine to play music and use for the phone. I use the carplay for the maps from my phone primarily since the navigation leaves something to be desired in these Chevrolets. Still love them but their nav screen sucks.

Lots of us have had problems with the actual USB connection. Go look it up in a search.
If your cords are working in terms of using them elsewhere (to charge the phone or sync it to a PC) then it could be the USB connection broke in your car. When you plug it in, is it starting to charge? I know it won't connect to Carplay but I'd like to know if electricity is moving through it. 1. Test the cords you are using by using them for regular charging OR syncing to PC. 2. Check if the cords are at least pushing power through to the phone by seeing if it will charge in the car. If the USB Connection is broken, GM will need to replace it for you. Hopefully faster than it took to fix mine.

I highly recommend this thread for anyone who's phone is NOT being recognized by the USB ports. That is the phone isn't even being charged. I did the battery reset and everything was normal two mins later.

This problem recurred two weeks ago. I need to fix it yet, but there's gotta be a permanent fix for this from GM.

Open your truck, on the right side you will see a plastic script, (one of those plastic Xmas tree shaped fasteners. Remove it, pull the liner away to expose the battery. there is a plastic cover to remove it, squeeze both sides, and it should slide off. next you will need a 13 MM wrench or socket and ratchet, remove the RED lead. be careful . Then touch the removed battery lead against the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery. Then reinstall everything as you took it apart. This should reset your apple car play. |

There is a fix. Bulletin 17-NA-019. Your dealership can update the radio software.
